DUI and License check point, Saturday, 8/22/15

"The Pacifica Police Department plans a DUI and driver's license checkpoint Sat., Aug. 22 from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. at an undisclosed location.

Officers will be looking for signs of alcohol and or drug impairment with officers who are also checking drivers for proper licensing. The checkpoint is expected to only momentarily delay motorists.

The DUI checkpoint will be placed in a location where, based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests, it affords the best opportunity to achieve drunk and drugged driving deterrence.
Drivers caught can expect the DUI arrest to include jail time, fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses that can exceed $10,000."

9pm to 3am would be a better time

agreed
9pm to 3am is the better time slot.
More importantly a better use of our public resources.
Bars stop serving at 1:30am and close their doors at 2pm.
That's prime-time for drunk drivers.
C'mon Pacifica, do it right please.
The life you save might be yours.

Just park a Police Car right by some of the drinking establishments and watch people walk out. If they look drunk bust them!

That's how it was done back in the day.

I think the hours are good. That recent wrong way drunk driver killed a man at 645 PM. More cars on the road earlier in the evening with more potential innocent victims. Drunks are out there 24/7 and 365.

Maybe they can do a better job, than blocking traffic for miles setting it up in Rockaway on a Friday night, when everyone is coming home from work.
