City Council candidates forum follow-up, Pacifica Environmental Family

Pacifica Tribune/Jane Northrop, Staff, 10/14/14.  "Environmental issues aired at candidates' forum."

Taking care of our environment is a good thing,
but did Environmental Family discourage members from
supporting attempted destruction of Sharp Park Golf Course?
"City Council candidates fielded questions about environmental issues at the election forum sponsored by Pacifica Environmental Family last Wednesday (10/8/14). In addition, PEF put together the candidates' answers to survey questions about climate change, sea walls, erosion, the city's general plan, transportation, the highway widening proposal, litter and resource conservation, water conservation ideas, and other pertinent environmental issues and posted them on its website.

Two candidates were missing -- Eric Ruchames, because he had to attend a PSD board meeting as a board member and Victor Spano because he had to attend a memorial for a friend."   Read article.

I tuned this out as soon as I saw Pacifica Environmental Family.

Why didn't these hypocrites say a word when the sewer plant spilled 7.5 million gallons of raw poop over the beach and into the water.

They said Shit! That's a word. Who did you want them to say it to? The EPA? As in Ah shit, EPA, please fine us? What did you want them to say?

Iwonder if the CBD gave you permission to use that photo? They have lawyers, I think.

657 Uh oh, somebody's gonna call Google.

What a joke. Are these people serious? Greener is even worse than Digre. No building on Gypsy Hill. No new housing. But he wants maps of the trails. When he loses by a landslide I hope they get the message. But they wont.

Hutch, I don't think they're going to do a Jonestown for you. These so-called messages are just part of the give and take of politics. NBD. People wear out their welcome. You regroup and try again. The pendulum swings and you're back!

Do you even know any of the people involved with Pacifica's Environmental Family? Was glad to have attended the forum. They put together a well thought out and attended event. They also have NO engagement or role with the Center for Biological Diversity.

Not sure what the sewer plant spill (that was a systemic issue not caused by people that have a concern for the environment) has to do with city council elections and creating an avenue for candidates to share their views on topics of interest to community members.

As usual the negative nature of comments and lack of awareness that many of the posters on FixPacifica make continues to create an attitude of disrespect for neighbors and lack of community. Certainly not a group of people with any sort of vision or that will do anything positive for the city.

347 Really? Do you want someone with the OP's critical thinking skills at your PEF meeting? The internet has its flaws but the buffer it provides is not one of them.

Maybury was not the moving party in that little fender-bender. He immediately apologized even though he didn't do it. I sure hope Hinshaw isn't so tone-deaf to this community that the push-back came as a surprise. And what happened to all the new subscriptions in his support? Not exactly a tidal wave?

In Kathy's playbook it would have been ethical for Maybury to roll over and play dead. Convenient, I get, but ethical? What about all the people who rose to his defense because they perceived a wrong? Let me guess. They're annoying, not ethical.

Kathy, are you physically incapable of making a post without the word nimby in it? Do you have the written form of tourettes?

Kathy Meeh said...

805, 658 yes my ethical and logical "playbook" is much better than yours.

And 819, I call a NIMBY a NIMBY. Would your preferred to be called a "Not In My Back Yardee?" And yes I'm "fiscally" incapable of calling it otherwise.

658 An apology does not make up for a serious breach of company policy. John Maybury is the only one responsible here. If he is an honest man he would cop to it. Never the less he can come back after the election. Just remember, everyone is replaceable, nimby's.

We dislike nimby's here. Is that really surprising to you 8:19. You should try and keep up man.

6:58, I doubt that John was responsible for the ad's content. Whoever came up with the ad was.

Hutch, we don't all dislike NIMBYS. I personally get along with the local NIMBYS better than I do the non-NIMBYS. I just disagree with their views.
