No on V, find another way

We all use cell phones
Pacifica Tribune Letters to the Editor, 10/22/13.    "Voting No" by Dan Underhill

.... "...  after wrestling with the subject at length, I cannot support Measure V. It is not because I think the city has a surplus or a secret stash of money. It isn't even because of the rather cynical approach of exempting seniors such as myself (a demographic with a disproportionately high voter turnout) regardless of their financial situation.

It is because the burden falls rather arbitrarily on people who for whatever reason use telecommunications.  ....   It was pointed out that those who are looking for work really need their cell phones but have no income as yet. I understand that we and our various governments are pinched right now.  ....   I think we need to not be blaming each other but instead find some other (than Measure V) way to hang in there until we can set the economy to something sustainable."   Read more.
