Friday afternoon erosion control oops at Devil's Slide

Seeding the hills to prevent erosion,
this time truck lost, man okay
Half Moon Bay Review/Julia Reis, 10/11/13. "Highway 1 closed at Devil's Slide on Friday."

"Highway 1 at Devil’s Slide was closed in both directions until around 2 p.m. on Friday as Caltrans workers recovered a truck that rolled off an access road and into an embankment a day earlier.

Caltrans spokesman Vince Jacala said a contractor was in a Caltrans hydroseed truck parked on top of a hill near Shamrock Ranch when it started sliding downhill. The man was able to jump out of the vehicle before the truck rolled off the road and was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The truck was being used to spread grass seeds for erosion prevention on top of the hill. Caltrans spokesman Bob Haus said Caltrans will not be sending a truck back to the same location."
