Styrofoam, the other white beach

Here are additional photos of the beach last Saturday. Note that the close-up clearly shows the tiny particles of Styrofoam in various stages of wear, and the landscape shot shows the Esplanade cranes in the distance. I have many more photos and hope to put a slideshow together soon.

what is in that 3rd pitcure that looks like a giant tennis ball? and a giant Snapple bottle?

The ball and bottle are regular size, but the Styrofoam pellets are very small, which is why they are so difficult to clean up.

By the way, you can click the pictures to enlarge them for greater detail.

I don't know Ian . . . do you have some type of distorted zoom lens going on there? I've got company at the house looking at the picture and people are saying that the background doesn't match the foreground, and the tennis ball looks like the size of a large medicine ball if that's an authentic picture.

ok I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it was a wide aperture lens, which may explain the distortion. But for some reason the EFIX data embedded in the file says the photo was taken on 2/20/2008 at 7:26 AM. Does that sound right?

I checked the Exif date on a photo Ian sent me last week of a crumbled walkway near the crumbly cliffs, and it also said it was from 2008. Since the walkway was fine until last week, it looks like you can't trust the Exif date.

Thanks, Steve. The time threw me off as well because the lighting was way too prominent for the bottom of a steep cliff at 7:30 AM in winter.
