In an emergency, timing may mean "everything"

San Mateo County Times/Joshua Melvin, 4/21/13. " Hiker tumbles down Pacifica cliff."

Hi there, I like sitting on a cliff ledge too.
"PACIFICA -- Firefighters rescued a hiker Saturday who was trapped after tumbling about 15 feet down a cliff at Linda Mar beach, authorities said.

The rescuers rushed to the south end of the beach around 5:25 p.m. and had to work quickly because the tide was coming up, said Clyde Preston of the North County Fire Authority. But the rescue went well and the hiker, whose name wasn't released, suffered only minor injuries.

The hiker didn't have to go to the hospital. Authorities didn't say why the hiker fell."

Time is of the essence!

What a croc. My wife and I were sitting below the road on a bench along the switchback trails and there were so many vehicles out there and so little activity we thought, as did everyone else, that they were all there to enjoy the sunset.

Really is a ladder truck necessary along with a couple of engine companies? And flares were used to push the southbound traffic to one lane.

Much ado about nothing.

It was really quite a show! IMO, these shows are 1/3 reasonable caution, 1/3 training opportunity, and 1/3 let's give the paying audience their money's worth, so they keep paying.

Before we give your opinion even the smallest weight, please describe your EMT training, Drama.

Hey, Mr Bray, when was the last time you had fallen (for whatever reason) from somewhere you had been hiking, and the tide was coming in, and needed rescue? I'm thinking never. These guys don't take chances with their own personnel or with the person they are trying to rescue. Keep yapping. Someday, just maybe, you'll need their help, and god help you if the hwy is clogged.

Really? He's fallen and he can't get up? Todd Bray? Well hold on Buddy. As soon as we finish our high-profile, group-shop with the truck at LM Safeway we'll be right over. Oh damn, there's a line at the deli and we got to run back to the house to put the freezer stuff away, but you're next. Really.

Todd out taking a hike? That's a good one.

So now you're an expert on how fire rescue should operate?

Proof proof we need the proof. No pictures=no proof.

when you have zero credibility and zero truth to what you say, you keep having to throw out complete BS to try to get people to listen to you.
