The Oscars were on Sunday Not Monday.

711, as open-ended and ambiguous as the "Oscar Monday" photo caption was, who would have anticipated your "..Not Monday" comment? Not me.

But since the Oscar movie nominations Sunday night (yesterday, 2/22/15) were actual stories about real people, did you have any thoughts about that? As described by one pundit, it was refreshing to see that this year the best movies were not just about "capes and tights".

Oh my! with each passing week, there are more vacant storefronts at KIMCO centers. Despite best intentions this council is Impotent in addressing the festering and growing vacant storefront plague. Who's Next?

An aging, empty-ish shopping center with easy access to highway, beach, even a little public transit...what might become of something like that?
Somebody, please do something with it!

How bout a Drive-In Movie Theater Swap Meet and Dog Park??.

929 should go well with a tank of crap across the street and what a 'gateway" to Linda mar and Park Pacifica that will be! deeelightful.

Oh you ninnies are always whining. Who doesn't enjoy the smell of fresh poop sitting in a tank across from the shopping center in the am.

C'mon Real Estate people - you like to complain and blame NIMBYS, here's your chance to get off your bar stool and do something! Or is bitching the high card in your hand?

In order to get the realtors to show up you have to have food and an open bar.

I just can't get the image out of my head of the "NIMBY - No on L - faux enviro's" filling their back packs and car trunks with left over food courtesy of Don Peebles after the community information presentation he sponsored at the Pedro Point Fire Hall.
Bunch of hypocrites, but at least they are consistent.

"I just can't get the image out of my head..."

It's been ten years, bud. You should probably be speaking to a licensed therapist instead of posting on a blog about it.

What's faux about it? Waste not, want not is nimby ideology.

NO ON L, NO ON L... it has a nice ring to it... No On L... yep, it sounds like a fun time was had by all.

111, as 1247 recalls, its worth remembering always who these NIMBY moochers and con artists are. NIMBIES taking food from the developer (who would have brought-in a balanced city economy) is more likely a negative NIMBY ethics issue, rather an observer memory psych issue.

And Todd 204, the "NO on advantaged economic development" ring you hear is probably just a chronic "ding, dong logic failure".

But, 111 and Todd 204, in order for this City to be financially sustainable, what balanced economic development planning solutions do you propose or support? How will you cooperate and help the survival (and improvement) of this City?

The biggest con artist ever to hit this town was Don Peebles. Do you remember how he promised to build soccer fields even if his Measure L didn't pass? Yeah, right. Biggest liar ever.

Actually you can thank our super- duper political ambassadors, Lancelle and Vreeland, for botching negotiations (post L)with Peebles so badly that he finally threw up his hands and had to admit that he was dealing with the stupidest amateurs on the planet.
Good faith is a two way street. All these two geniuses delivered was abuse and bad faith.
And then...... there was Todd and all of the wacky passengers in his clown car.
If Pacifica ever digs it's way out of this financial mess it will be no thanks to all of these whack jobs who think sustainable development is a pond filled with scum.

Nimbys are super-human. That's the only explanation.

815 Fighting over scraps. Pacifica's shelf-life as an incorporated city is single digit.

I LOVE PACIFICA! said...

Not True 9:22!
You will see a renaissance of Pacifica starting with the building of our new library and city hall on Palmetto! I believe Mayor Karen and former Mayor Mary Ann!

I heart Pacifica @ 950, I love a good laugh. Thank you!

Anonymous said...

Wait a minute. With all the clowns down at city hall, and the city council who is driving the clown bus?

I LOVE PACIFICA! said...

BELIEVE! It's good for you and Pacifica too!

Can you please inform our city council never to drink the bong water!

I was watching season 6 of Seinfeld last night and I was thinking.

Seinfeld a show about nothing.

Pacifica a city about nothing.

NO ON L, NO ON L. we are coming up on the 10 year anniversary of that wondrous defeat, why it only feels like 10 years ago.

Poor little Todd,
Do you need some attention and a hug?

Kathy Meeh said...

2/25, 446, you must still be thinking about Santa Clause, free toys for nothing, then Santa rides off on his sleigh-- all because you were a "good boy".

My recall is that the soccer/sports fields, land for a library, and assistance with highway 1 improvement were promised in conjunction with the substantial quarry development. That's business, rather than make believe.

2/25,815 described the "botched" city council leadership follow-up and outcome perfectly. (Of course, this same city council fought quarry redevelopment, a positive development no-brainer, prior-- another reason to never vote for any NIMBY city councilmember candidates ever).

Todd 12:21, 10 years later, the city continues to struggle with an ongoing, compounded financial and infrastructure debt and deficit. Some of us are looking for city solutions, not more NIMBY BS. Again, how would you and your like-minded friends fix the financial shortfall in this city?

Batshit crazy @ 950 thanks for the laffs. Council shill or Council member?

Anon @ 1:29... come on over Baby... YEAH

Sorry, I prefer girls.... Not that there's anything wrong with it.
