San Jose Mercury News/Bay Area News/Eric Kurhi, 1/11/15. "Still teed off: Residents upset over latest plan for San Jose golf course."

Civilized environment is so not retro,
adds traffic congestion
and advantages rich people.
Frogs and fire hazard are preferred
to our always to be remembered wedding venue.
.... "He got what he asked for -- he got his golf course," said Scott Sherwood, president of one of two nearby homeowner groups that are opposed to the expansion, along with six environmental and open-space groups. "And now he wants more."  .... Owners Rocke and Glenda Garcia say they must adjust to shifts in the country club market for Boulder Ridge to keep up with other venues. To that end, after the 2009 addition of a 225-capacity events space, the Garcias now want to build a two-story fitness center and competition-sized swimming pool.

....  "The swimming aspect has always been part of golf and country clubs," said Rocke Garcia, a local homebuilder who constructed the nearby Almaden Villas development in the early '90s. "And every club I know of has added a fitness facility."  The Boulder Ridge Golf Club occupies 202 acres on a hilltop above the surrounding enclaves of upscale homes just south of Almaden Lake Park. It's an enviable site, boasting panoramic views of the Santa Cruz Mountains and centerpieced by a luxurious Craftsman clubhouse built from rough-hewn rock. Golfers have compared the links to Monterey's legendary Pebble Beach, and wildlife is abundant -- rabbits dodge foxes and the plentiful deer sometimes have to contend with a prowling puma.  .... Supervisors approved the golf course in 1993 amid residents crying "foul" on cronyism grounds -- Rocke Garcia had long been buddies with one supervisor and heavily donated to the campaign of another."  Read more.

But then soome people appreciate civilized recreation,
fun, enjoyment of the great outdoors
without being eaten by a mountain lion, terrible.

ReferenceBoulder Ridge Golf Club.  "The Golf Club at Boulder Ridge is located high above the Santa Clara Valley in San Jose, CA. Boulder Ridge offers panoramic views of the entire Silicon Valley and dramatic views of the Santa Cruz Mountain Range. The unique character of the course comes from giant prehistoric boulders where the Ohlone Indians lived and played centuries ago, and later, where settlers quarried rocks to build Stanford University and the original San Jose post office. Nothing compares. Every round at Boulder Ridge is a magical golf experience."...  The Pavilion Event Center at Boulder Ridge is available to members and nonmembers. Perched high on a plateau, overlooking the golf course and Almaden Valley, you will find a "Diamond in the Rough". The Pavilion boasts 3,200 square feet of indoor space, which includes a fireplace and windows that frame the almost 360 degrees of breath taking views. Additionally, the Pavilion offers 5,000 square feet of outdoor patio space. The gorgeous landscaping includes a ceremony gazebo, water feature and bar.
