Damage from the first rain storm this winter, loans for follow-up storm

Pacifica Tribune/Letters to the Editor, 1/13/14.  "Thanks public works, fire dept." by Ron and Ila Homsher (Pedro Point)

"Editor:  Thanks to the fire and public works departments for assistance during the storms.

During the first storm on Dec. 2 we experienced a flood from the street into our garage caused by construction debris blocking a storm drain. It was 2:30 a.m. and really scary to see this river of water rushing toward our home. We called 911 who dispatched the fire department. The fire department provided immediate support in sweeping the water out of the garage helping to minimize the damage. In addition, they notified public works who came and unclogged the drain.

We appreciate the fast and thorough response from both agencies working under adverse conditions with multiple calls from all over the city. Thanks again for helping us work with this emergency situation."
