New Year, unfinished city business: first baby

Congratulations Marko Koa Leal,
first baby Pacifica, 2015!
Pacifica Tribune/Jane Northrop, Staff writer, 1/13/15. "Welcome Pacifica's first baby-- its a little boy."

".... Marko Koa Leal was born January 2 at 4:25 p.m. at 35 weeks, 3 days gestation. He weighed only 6.06 pounds and stretched 19 and a half inches long.

.... He was taken to the neo-natal intensive care unit at UCSF because he was born before 3
6 weeks of gestation. He had to stay there until he picked up a little weight and cleared a number of important newborn wellness hurdles. That happy discharge day was Sat., Jan. 10 as his parents, Jasminka and David Leal, brought the baby home to their West Sharp Park home. He had picked up a little weight, all the way up to 6.3 pounds. Read article.

One of the reasons readers love the hometown feel of the Pacifica Tribune is exactly that -- no one else covers our hometown. And over the decades, it has been the tradition of the Pacifica Tribune to celebrate the first baby born in Pacifica. Advertisers come up with special ads showing support. The Pacifica Tribune gives the family a free one-year subscription, beginning with the issue they grace the front page and a special keepsake gift.
