....  "Fifteen of 17 new laws authored in 2012 by the former Assemblywoman went into effect on Jan. 1, 2013. These new laws built on Assemblywoman Ma's first two terms, where she focused on creating jobs, securing funding for education and public safety and improving the quality of life in both San Mateo and San Francisco counties.

....  Recently termed out of office, after serving a maximum three terms in the California State Assembly from 2006 through 2012, she is the 112th woman to ever be elected to the California Legislature and the first Asian woman to ever serve as Speaker pro Tempore since California became a state in 1850.

....  Currently Ma is a candidate for the State Board of Equalization's District 2 Seat in 2014.
