Tar balls

in pacifica sos means...same old shit

Anonymous said...

so this is how it ends?

Sustainable Development means that it generates enough revenue and/or benefit to perpetuate itself.
WHAT A FAILURE WE HAVE IN PACIFICA.

Anonymous said...

just one failure? the list is endless.

Well 802, Pacifica is big on benefits. Just ask council about their city-paid benefits or those of our city employees. Generous! Yeah, they got the benefit thing down! Clear on that one.

Now, about that revenue thing. Council doesn't know how to make it or, far worse, even how to let it be made.

Their clumsy hands in our pockets is their idea of revenue.

Prepare to be groped!

A rather large man could have busted the sewer pipe.

You know with a rather large stool

whoa...is this the "one disaster" that wipes! out our reserve? where does the repair money come from?

According to the city's press release some 1800 gallons of the stuff made its way into the Pacific Ocean and the appropriate
regulatory agencies have been notified. Wonderful. How much do we make that check for? What were the terms of that last lawsuit about our leaky sewer?

And, again, big thanks to those previous city councils who looted the sewer tax funds for years to fill the gaps in the general fund created by their irresponsible spending and lack of revenue creation. Perfectly legal at the time. Those funds were meant to repair and maintain our sewer system. Thanks guys! I think of you with every flush.

5,800 gallons

This smells like the poop and piss that came out of the pipe.

1. Why wasn't the fire department called?

2. The leak starts at 4 am and they were right on fixing it. I call bullshit

3. No digging or work around the area of Fassler and Highway 1. How was the broken pipe fixed?

4. This sounds alot like the tar ball fiasco that "slick" Jimmy Vreeland and "Sneaky" Pete Dejaranatt called "tar balls"

5. Why wasn't the director of the plant quoted in the article.

It must be a sewage conspiracy. There's no other rational explanation

... unless you're rational.

Pacifica poopgate part 2.

anon 743 is a bit overwrought. Saw trucks and cones, guys working, etc. still in the area of the spill Friday noon. Maybe the city will update their press release like any other city would do? This being Pathetica a healthy skepticism, maybe full-on suspicion, when dealing with anything vaguely municipal is a must, but don't panic, anon.

More then 24 hours after the spill and not a word from the so-called Pacifica enviromentalists.

Butler?
Bray?
Loeb?
Shoemaker?
Beach Coalition?

that's a problem?

More than 24 hours after the spill and not a word from Mayor Len or City Council members.

@1041 wait for the power point. oh wait a minute, there is no report, no document. give us 30 days and we'll come up with something. you people are so nosy. we're running things, relax.

Mayor Len may even be a bigger mess then Mayor "Sneaky" do nothing Pete.

yes, I think a "We are in control of this situation" would be a good move!

Anonymous said...

some people are busy picking up trash bags, stopping hwy 1 expansion, and saving the quarry. they don't have time for this sh$#!

It's absurd to take environmentalists to task for not commenting on a spill from a broken sewer main. It's irrelevant. What would be relevant would be an update from the city about the status of the sewer main repair.

Wait till My Childrens Earth sues the city again.

I wonder what scheme the city council will think up to get out of this one.

anon 317

why is it absurd? why is it irrelevant? the enviros have destroyed the city's infrastructure. yet when poop flows into their precious ocean, they say nothing.

Anonymous said...

the enviros open their yaps about the plover, the highway, the city's finances . . . but it is absurd to expect them to comment on something directly affecting the environment??

Poop is natural, so it's OK.

The silence from city hall is interesting. Perhaps because it's a weekend? Should we expect an update on Monday or just wait for the bills and fines? I wonder if this new spill into the ocean puts us in violation of some stipulation in that last lawsuit settlement. Sure seems like council should be all over this given the precarious state of city finances. They bleat about that constantly. If nothing else, at least tell us this is not the event that puts us over the edge.

@325 They'll get out of this one the same way they got out of the last one...they'll stick the taxpayer and homeowner with the bill.

Anonymous said...

City Hall figures if fish and birds poop in the water, why would a little human poop bother anyone.

Anonymous said...

if the poop doesn't fit we must acquit.

Apparently dog shit all over the beaches and pathways is ok with the Fixy crowd.

Anonymous said...

@115 Now, don't you fret about dog crap on the beach. Once the birdnuts brought the USF&WS into the deal and council rolled-over, the days of dogs on Linda Mar Beach are numbered. Anti-dog sentiment aligns quite nicely with the plover-uber-alles crowd. In fact, dogs were a huge issue for them until they got smart and changed tactics. They didn't have to get too smart in this town. Our bird-brained council just handed them the keys. Yep, Nihart, Ervin and O'Neill joined Digre in completing the work started by Julie Lancelle a few years ago. First the dogs are banned, then the people, because the goal of any conservation program is breeding and our roosting plovers will not breed with the disturbances caused by people and dogs.

Council can try to hide their monumental screw-up with "it's no big deal, there's no money to implement", but the money isn't much and it need not come from this broke-ass town. They'll get the money. It may take a few years, but that beach will end up like the ones down the coast in Lompoc...closed to dogs and humans for 8 months of the year. You can bet on it.

No there couldn't be a sewage leak. There hasn't even been any rain. And I know for a fact we have top notch union workers we're paying $125,000 and more. These are highly paid professionals. And we've been paying $10,000 a pop for new latrerrals. Oh and new fees. So yeah this must be a mistake.

No 726, this is Pacifica. When we say "watch where you step" we mean it! The county health dept should quarantine the spill area. Call the CDC!
