Economic development plan for Pacifica, city council can make it happen

Pacifica Tribune/Jane Northrop, 12/11/12.  "City Council hires consultant to draft economic development plan."

Economic development this time?
"City Council unanimously voted on the selection of a consultant to draft a new economic development plan for the city Monday.

....  The work is expected to take five months and cost $34,900. The money will be paid out of the general fund, but not by creating an additional expenditure from the general fund. The motor pool replacement fund will not be used this year to be able to pay for the project. The City Council has identified this project as a priority.

Members of the screening committee included Mayor Pro Tem Len Stone, Councilmember Sue Digre, Economic Development Committee Members Mary Brown and Victor Spano, Planning Director George White and City Manager Steve Rhodes.

"That firm (Wahlstrom and Associates) seemed the most receptive to what we are planning and what we can do in Pacifica," Rhodes explained. "Susan Barnes had a lot of experience in Redwood City and did some of the work we want to do here."  Read more.

We'll be saying good bye to Steve Rhodes just about when this latest consultant is ready to report. He's definitely earned his retirement. Hope Council lines up a strong replacement for City Manager. Someone with some real development experience would be so nice to have around. Council, this is not a time for butt kissers or those at the beginning or end of their careers. Get a good one and don't take all next year to do it!

She'd hire Lurch to run PBR.

The only people who want Rhodes out are disgruntled hippies.

Ninnies! Steve Rhodes didn't spend the reserves, hold secret meetings, or blow the police outsourcing deal...that was Council. Rhodes reports to them and carries out their wishes or he perishes. You can blame individual councilmembers and their undying dedication to their own political ambitions, their enormous egos and various neuroses for avoiding important decisions and kicking that can down the road. And, some councilmembers have much more influence than others behind the scenes. It's Council and not any City Manager who calls the shots. If Ritzma schemes and manipulates her way into the job, and she has laid the groundwork well, I'd say Council will get exactly what it deserves. Her skills as a soulless manipulator exceed those of any councilmember. And, she's smarter and emotionally much tougher than those wimps. Good for Pacifica? Compared to what?

The Adams family butler.
Spend a little time with Ritzma and you'll swear that you just slipped into an episode of Dark Shadows.

It's that drone of hers that's almost unnerving. What's that woman on? I swear council is on psych meds. They share with Ritzma.
