R. Donahue Peebles today |
.... But he also took issue with Obama's recently revived talking point about raising taxes on those who make $250,000 or more a year. ....And Peebles also defended Romney from the Obama campaign's criticisms over the candidate's bank accounts in Switzerland and the Cayman Islands.
.... "I know Don Peebles and I know he's a supporter of the president's," Wasserman Schultz said. Whether the Obama campaign feels the same way now may be up for debate."

Boy we really dodged a bullet with this guy. Yeah sure he's friends with the President, won many awards, shown the utmost ethical standards, built world class developments in Miami & New York.
Yeah we were lucky we got rid of this very sinister character because we know by his record he would have screwed us because there was no plan.
Right.
Too bad the quarry was nixed.
Might have become Obama's west coast getaway.
Peebles dodged the bullet. No surprise.
Too bad pigs don't have wings. Then they could fly.
".. we really dodged a bullet with this guy... Right." NIMBY style. (Hutch, 7:15pm).
5 1/2 years later, once through regulations (including the dreaded coastal commission), and at least two eco-NIMBY lawsuits-- more of our citizens would be working, and the city would have cash.
Even though the city missed the redevelopment advantage for 25 years, at least the mixed-use village would be a reason for tourists and locals to stop-off in Pacifica.
The NIMBY trade-off is an overgrown creek, dangerous low cliffs, a bunch of weeds with zero income on 88 acres.
I would have thought the drug the Peeble's supporters are smoking would have worn off by now.
I don't what they smoke but mention Peebles or the quarry and they spring to life and that mantra kicks in. If only...
No kidding, like ancient buried land shrimp.
I thought it's the old hippy environmentalists smocking that chronic?
Yeah I don't know why people still get upset. Peebles was only going to build a movie theater, library , town center and enough housing and tax base that we would probably be ok financially.
Oh yeah, the hippies argument: "there was no plan"
Don't worry though, world class developers like Don Peebles are knocking down Pacifica's door to build here.
ha
He was also going to sell us the Golden Gate bridge.
Pacifica is damn lucky to have gotten rid of Don Peebles. Take at this - http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/blogs/looselips/2010/11/10/d-c-suing-don-peebles/
Washington DC is suing him for improper charges. And that isn't all - Peebles ticked off the Obama campaign too - apparently he is burning all his bridges.

"..Golden Gate bridge." Anonymous 11:15 am.
That sounds like the 30 year NIMBY spin conclusion that nothing significant should be built to improve Pacifica. Your view, City deterioration, economic collapse, and retro-IQ are perfect as is?
With 60% open (empty) space, "our environment is our economy", isn't it the case that this mantra is just an excuse to avoid needed city progress and economic balance?
A swing and a miss Anon 11:52.
People get sued all the time doesn't mean they're shady.
Peebles reputation is impeccable. That's why all you found was some garbage Smell like shrimp. Or farts.
And everyone knows that anything built in that quarry in that timeframe would have been immune to the economic collapse and magically would have conveyed that immunity to Pacifica. We'd be a beacon to the world. We could lend money to Stockton, save Scranton.
Yeah, pretty clear who's smoking dope and it wasn't Peebles who knows how to hedge his bets, still made a bundle off the deal, and probably is very touched by the undying adoration of delusional Pacificans. Or, laughing his ass off.
I thought we owned the Golden Gare Bridge.
Hutch 1028 smocking kinda goes with the twirly dancer look. seen them frolic through the Vallemar forest. don't be so negative. they look cute.
Losers are only happy when the aspirations of others fail to materialize.
Don't know about that Obi-wan Bell. Just being realistic. The quarry should be a bargain now. Somebody will eventually take a shot and let the games begin.
Well said Mike

100's of large projects were build in SF and San Mateo County during that time and though they may have had a little trouble at first they're thriving now. Just look at the vacancy rates here on the Peninsula.
apples, oranges and exaggeration
