A wish for many more birthdays, Sharp Park Golf Course you've been good for our city.
Good for our City |
A beautiful 80 year recreational asset |
Keeping our golfers active and "off the streets" |
"Sharp Park Golf Course will celebrate its 80th birthday this Saturday. A hoopla of big happenings are planned to celebrate the anniversary, including a golf tournament. The public is invited to join the activities at the historical Sharp Park Clubhouse.
The big question is: will the golf course live to celebrate future birthdays?
... Presently, a group of environmental activists is taking the golf course to court, seeking to close the historic course and retire it into a national park. Following a denial by the court in San Francisco of the activists' motion for summary judgment and a preliminary injunction, the case has now been scheduled for trial this October."
Big thanks to the SFPGA!
"... Richard Harris and Bo Links, both prominent San Francisco lawyers, and avid golfers, co-founded the San Francisco Public Golf Alliance. Formed three years ago, their goal for the coalition is to preserve affordable, eco-friendly golf in San Francisco for future generations of golfers by making sure that Sharp Park and Lincoln Park golf courses remain open for play."
