Pacifica (City of) - Budget meeting 4/25/12 review - education and public relations

City budget meeting: department mission statements, goals, accomplishments, programs, cost cutting.

The 4/25/12 budget meeting would be worth seeing again for the education value.  It was essentially an already completed "work shop" awaiting the city council vote, complete with financial delays built-in until November.  The good economic news for us all is that the Beach Boulevard development is moving forward, and hopefully so will the Assisted Living project.
Our city budget meeting was an already baked cake

Pacifica Tribune/Jane Northrop 5/1/12, "City departments state accomplishments and goals in budget study."
"City Council members did not focus on working through potential budget cuts during their last work study session April 26. Instead, they heard reports from each department head about last year's goals and this year's accomplishments.

City Manager Steve Rhodes confirmed to council members that if they chose to spend the reserves for six months, there would be ample funding to maintain library hours and maintain funding for the Pacifica Resource Center, Pacifica Community Television and the Visitors Center. The current draft of the budget uses $108,000 to fund those agencies for six months."  Read Article.

Sounds like a great plan. Kick the can down the road 6 mos and count on a sales tax that isn't even going to make it on the ballot. And if it does will be defeated. All the while ignoring the 20 million dollar pension elephant that will eventually cause our bankruptcy.

Nice.

Must be that Mayan Calendar thing. Why deal with our problems when the world is ending? The return of Quetzalcoatl on 12/21/12 means none of this BS matters anymore.

"Mayan Calendar thing"

Maybe only applies if you're Mayan? The Pacifica Calendar never happened, which must be the reason some eco-folks think nothing should happen before nothing can happen. (Translated from Mayan)

I think nothing happened, is happening, or will happen, which means this must be Pacifica.
