Sorry again NIMBIES, you've been trying for that List at least 35 years.
Great air and whale watching |
"When it comes to your vacation, most people seek out places they've seen on TV or have heard about from friends and family. But sometimes going to the big-name cities or towns can get a little redundant. It's mostly just tourist shops and cheesy activities along with the occasional once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Going somewhere new and undiscovered offers experiences that tourist-dense spots can't. Let us introduce you to 40 unsung hot spots. These unheard-of towns across the U.S. might not have made it onto your bucket list yet, but believe us, they deserve a spot."

Note photograph from Pinterest/Go Pet Friendly Destinations. You will never guess what we saw when we took Ty and Buster to hike the Grey Whale Cove Trail in Pacifica, California. Yes, we saw whales, but we also saw some else even more thrilling! Find more pet friendly places to stay and things to do near Pacifica here: www.gopetfriendly.com.

Pacifica wishes it was Ferndale, Cloverdale or Capitola.
When I tell people I live in Pacifica, I either get a blank stare or a look of pity.
Healdsburg made the list?????? Who doesn't know Healdsburg? It is THE best place for wine tastingL Super laid back, gorgeous scenery, people with money to burn, and great shopping. Napa is for auto parts, Healdsburg is for wine.
People recognize Half Moon Bay more than Pacifica. Sometimes I wonder if it would be better to just incorporate the the coast-side from Pacifica to Half Moon Bay as one combined city with different neighborhoods.
Might save some money on city government expenses and also bring some balance.
Whenever I go out to dinner with old friends and I tell them I still live in Pacifica, they always offer to pick up the check. I'm not sure how much money I've saved over the years, but it is substantial. Thanks Pacifica! Give us your tired, your poor...
TO:STEVE SINAI, WHEREINTHEHELLISPACIFICA???? REMEMBER THOSE BUMPER STICKERS FROM THE 1970'S??
TO:THE LOCAL LIBERTARIAN, DID YOU KNOW THAT IN NOVEMBER 1957 SAN MATEO COUNTRY SUPERVISORS UNANIMOUSLY DECLARED A GROUP OF SEASIDE COMMUNITIES TO BE INCORPORATED AS ''PACIFICA.'' THE CITY WAS NAMED AFTER AN 80 FOOT STATUE AT THE 1939 WORLD FAIR AT TREASURE ISLAND. THE VOTE WAS 5 TO 4 IN NAMING PACIFICA OVER THE NAME OF ''COASTSIDE.'' FUNNY HOW YOU MENTIONED INCORPORATE THE COASTSIDE AS WHAT I MENTIONED CAME TO MIND. GARY JOHNSON FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!
@Craig Roark
Yep, familiar with 1957 incorporation of various communities as "Pacifica". But I did not know that 'coastside' was a contender for name. Also did not know 'Pacifica' is named after an 80ft statue on Treasure Island.
Between HMB and Pacifica, I think HMB has more leverage given their economic performance and overall marketing success. I wouldn't mind if the name "Pacifica" was disbanded and the communities were merged with Half Moon Bay along with Montara, Moss Beach, Princeton & El Granada. HMB has done a much better job of marketing themselves. But I am not sure HMB residents would support this.
