Just finished having coffee with Chuck who got a good laugh out of these comments. First he said Nick's has always made itself available for community discussions from the Quarry to the Boy Scouts and he never said he was against the project but just offered suggestions (mostly regarding parking) to the developers.
Both Chuck and Chris have publicly said negative things about the quarry project. Neither one may be against the project, but they haven't said they're for it either.
As I always do when a large project is presented, I listen and gather facts from all sides. I was at the merchant Quarry meeting and voiced a huge concern regarding the proposed access road to be used by the garbage trucks to collect the proposed commercial area trash. I have spoken to Peter Loeb regarding the surrounding wetlands habitats in the proposed building areas and near the proposed access road but have not read any clarifying documents answering all the questions sent to the City covering citizens viable concerns. Will continue to gather facts until November.
Who gives a shit what Chuck Gust says or wants with respect to the quarry? Really? His opinion is self-serving and isn't worth one ounce more or less than any one of the other 39k residents of this town. In fact, considering he has a vested business interest in that area, I suggest that his opinion should be filtered just as that of quarry next door neighbor Peter Loeb.
^^^ Offensive 400 pm speaks against vested business interest in a neighborhood which is primarily retail/commercial, and has a long-term track record of economic and social benefit to this City.
Traffic circulation is a valid issue in Rockaway Beach area, as Chuck Gust commented as a citizen with vested interest in a business, when this project study session came before the Planning Commission a few months ago. This is Chuck's realistic view, and most people who would like to see Rockaway developed, particularly for retail/commercial or mixed-use, likely agree with comments by Chuck, and further inquiry by Chris.
402, just say NO to Nimbism! If managed economic retreat doesn't end this City-- with YES to progress, your "nose" may enjoy a brighter, more prosperous color.
With any luck it will be well attended by the usual pro development people and so another wasted effort to pretend the quarry development team is reaching out to the public.
Gawd Almighty, you got to love Pacifica! All the turmoil in the world and yet you can check in here every 6 months or so and nothing has changed. Downside? Pacifica is a dump, always has been, always will be. Upside? No surprises.

How can you have a town hall meeting at an establishment when the owners are against the project?
The owners of Nick's are NOT against the quarry development.
That's not what Chuck Gust said.
Chuck, has said on numerous occasions he is 100% against the quarry project.

It is one thing when Todd Bray makes up his malarky.
But if you want to be on his level, knock your self out.
Anonymous 101, I think you're referring to Anonymous 334 AM.
957 is Chris Porter who actually had a conversation this morning with Chuck Gust.
