SMC Alert - Coastal Auto Burglaries

Over the past several weeks, there have been numerous auto burglaries throughout the Coast, including from beach parking lots and turnouts.  The suspect(s) gained access by breaking out the windows of locked vehicles.  There have also been thefts from several unlocked vehicles within the residential areas along the Coast.

In most of these cases, items such as iPods, cellular phones, laptop computers, wallets, purses and credit cards were stolen.  Typically, credit cards are quickly used at local gas stations and at department stores to purchase expensive items.

In addition to the auto burglaries, several vehicles have been stolen recently from various coastal communities.  Not all of these cases are related and are most likely the work of several different individuals.  The Sheriff's Office is actively following up on leads and continuing to investigate these cases.  Anyone with information on any of these crimes is asked to contact San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office at 650-363-4915.

You may also call the Sheriff’s Office Anonymous Witness Line at 800-547-2700.

Citizens are reminded to call the Sheriff's Office immediately with any suspicious activity and please remember to keep your vehicles and residences secured.

OMG, another urban horror comes to suburbia. And we just bought council their fancy new gadgets. God forbid, but if the worst happens and they're stolen (the gadgets I mean) we must spare no expense and replace them at once.
We cannot, we must not, have any interruption of all that honest, open communication we've been told to expect. Any day, now. Soon.

On the other hand if some hoodlum swipes one of our councilmembers, do remember your manners and say thanks.

Mary Ann is the only person on council who can turn on the I-pad

Len, locks his self in his office and is afraid to come outside

Pete hasn't figured out the internets yet

Jinny will sit and babble for 6 hours about it

Sue will be afraid to turn it in due to sea level rise

Poor Kathy will have to teach this monkey crew how to use these. Tip. Bring lots of bananas
