Sorry you are not impressed Anon at 10:39 AM or Anon at 12:06 PM but the Chamber is filled with people doing something in this town and not laughing about logos and people's occupations. How about joining a group of doers instead of continuing your naysayer ways. Just a thought to ponder

How about a dollar sign with a freeway through it? This overblown highway will shoot people through Pacifica so fast they'll be oblivious to any of our businesses in Rockaway. Probably miss LM, too. And we know they don't stop in Manor because it's so damn ugly. Pacificans had better find a smarter, business and city friendly solution because CalTrans regional vision clearly sees us as a town not worth stopping in.

Funny how some people think traffic jams are good for business.
No stop lights will be removed. Highway 1 will not be a freeway.
So, Steve, if it's not going to move people through that area quicker, much quicker, why again are we building it? There are other ways to provide room for emergency vehicles.
Anti Highway 1 Anonymie...There is too much traffic when something is planned in the Quarry and not enough traffic when a fix is put into action. Some people remember what you say so do you have two mirrors in the morning to decide what face you want to present to the world.
I challange any of the hippies and nobies to go over to Tanforan and walk over from Sneath lane to 380 to El Camino Real and watch how traffic flows thru this area. 1000 housing units were added and traffic flows through the area much better then before.

Traffic congestion at Calera Creek Parkway exists. "Fix the road to reduce the affects of stalled traffic, but in doing this do not harm Rockaway business." Paraphrased, that was partially the sentiment expressed by city council candidate Susan Vellone. She also said she favors highway improvements through Pacifica.
The additional 1.3 mile lanes will allow entry and exit of traffic at Vallemar and Rockaway. The CalTrans solution follows years of studies, and public comment. The planned highway improvement affects Pacifica, as well as the coastal region.
The 1.3 mile entry, exit solution makes sense to me. The "ditzy" comment is all yours. 20 years is long enough to study the highway 1 at Calera Creek Parkway bottleneck issue.

Yes, traffic will move through quicker, but to say the road will be turned into a freeway or "drag strip", as some have said, is dishonest. No stop lights are being removed.
Why are we building it? People have been bitching about clogged traffic on Highway 1 for years. Those opposed to development in the quarry pointed to existing traffic problems as a major reason why.
As some of us love to point out, those very same people who were screaming about how terrible traffic was, are now saying, "Uhh, never mind."
Voted for the quarry, but still think this road-widening is overkill.
If we weren't such an impoverished and deeply polarized town we wouldn't be so pathetically eager to accept this project as presented.

Remember the traffic backup? Oh you also don't drive out of town, but its okay for those other poor devils to sit in traffic. And you're in favor of safety vehicles not getting through traffic? Say that when you need paramedic.

it is very simple. the road does not need widening now that the people who support Rich Campbell have scared away any potential developers for the quarry.
Pacifica had a choice as recently as 2006 to match fnds with the state and dictate the direction of this project. Now the same people who made sure the city had no money are whining about caltrans pushing through their own plan because caltrans got sick of waiting for Pacifica to do something.
@324 You and your accusations! Those are your security blankets and they are wrong across the board. 30 year resident and I know that stretch of road too well. I voted for measure L, and the earlier Measure E, because they made sense. Good for Pacifica. This road-widening does not make sense. I believe it will do more harm to Pacifica, specifically our businesses, than good. Why be so eager to accept Caltrans' preferred solution as the only way to go? They don't care about this town. I do.
@403 oh and beggars can't be choosers, right? just out of curiosity, how much money would we have had to put up? i'm sure we didn't have it but there were sources for such. 2006 hmmm probably the whole issue went by very very quietly
402anon It's not quite that simple. Post-Peebles, the economy played a role and will continue to do so. Then we have all those nerdy regulatory agencies which scare off all but the foolish or the really big money. And, like the poor, the enviros will always be with us. It's not so simple, but I'm with you, it's nice to be able to blame someone local.
