Letter to the Editor

Editor:

I am supporting Mike O'Neill for the two-year Pacifica City Council seat because he has the leadership experience and common sense to move Pacifica forward. Mike has served 14 years on the Pacifica School District Board of Trustees, and during that time had to make some very tough decisions in response to dramatic state funding cuts to education. Mike approaches fiscal matters with a long-term view, recognizing that decisions made today will impact students and teachers long into the future. Mike is a constant source of good ideas and alternate solutions, such as the ones that brought substantial additional revenue to the schools from filming and leasing contracts. With his background in real estate and banking, and nearly 20 years of successful public service as a past president of the chamber of commerce, chairman of the planning commission, and 14 years as a Pacifica School District board trustee -- serving three times as president of the board -- Mike O'Neill has the knowledge, skills and abilities to bring positive leadership to the city of Pacifica.

Sue Beckmeyer,

Linda Mar

I will not vote for O Neill. He has no public stance on PBJ and chocolate milk, and those are important issues to Pacifica! Also, Rich Campbell got BJ Nathanson to quit the planning commission.

My vote is for Campbell!

What an A-list of endorsments for Campbell. Verby, Bohner, Davidson, Leone! If you wanted a who's who list of obstructionists, and the leaders of Pacifican's for Sustainable Development (if that isn't oxymoronic nothing is)these would be the executive committee. Davidson is the Sierra Club guru in Pacifica. The same Sierra Club that declated Campbell "the perfect candidate". Why not just call him the Manchurian Candidate. It's pretty transparent which faction of Pacifica assembled this candidate. Charlie McCarthy was less of a puppet than this guy. Bohner will be the first one to file a law suit if Caltrans goes forward repairing the regional transportation corridor that is Hwy 1. Leone! Nancy Hall's current mouthpiece. All a testament to Pacifica's economic stagnation. This town cannot afford more of the same. Vote smart. ABC. Anybody But Campbell.

Vote smart? That can't be ABC, it has to be O'Neill. A vote for Spano is really a vote for Campbell. This town will not survive a Campbell Council. Vote smart, really smart, and vote O'Neill!

@747 and I believe they all endorse Ervin and Nihart as well. Hmm, birds of a feather....

@ Anon 747, If you want Campbell to lose please stop saying ABC. If voters split the vote between O'Neill and Spano then Campbell will win.

We need to come together for ONE candidate. O'Neil has the best shot. I do like Spano better but I'm switching to O'Neill so Campbell won't win.

We must come together on this. I'm calling for Fix Pacifica. Mary Ann, Len, Vellone and Ervin to come out and formally endorse O'Neil. Please give us some direction and explain to people whats going on before it's too late.

Oh my 817anon but you are a very trusting sort, aren't you? Pacifica desperately needs O'Neill's independence, integrity and real, measurable and comparable experience. That's all the endorsement we can expect.

@817 You don't know what's going on here? Get ready for the Campbell Council. That's what's going on.

Campbell will be a disaster for this city. He is campaigning taking credit for stuff he hasn't done and stuff he can't document he's ever done. His whole campaign is fluff. Don't split the votes. Victor is a nice guy but he's one dimensional at this point. Economic Development is extrememly important but it's just one part of the job. Let him season for awhile on the planning commission. He'll be ready in 2 years when the other lump of goo, Digre is termed out. Vote for O'Neill.

We really know nothing about Spano other than he's a Daly City employee who can put economic development on his resume because he works in that department. Big difference between that and being a councilperson. We can expect and should insist on changes to the Planning Commission after the election. Raise hell if council wimps out. That is the perfect spot for Victor Spano to start and to build a track record for the 2014 election. We need O'Neill now and he will make a difference. Give him your vote and give Pacifica a real chance. O'Neill.

Campbell is the only real candidate on the panel. We'd be lucky to have him on the Council. He's teh only one who can move Pacifica forward. I voted for Campbell, and so are all my friends.
