Did Pacifica forget to fix Linda Mar Boulevard, or no money

Pacifica Tribune/Letters to the Editor, 8/7/12.  "Deteriorating streets" Stan Steuart

Future of Linda Mar Boulevard?
"Editor:  I have been a resident of Pacifica for the last 12 years and in the Linda Mar area for the last eight specifically. I use Linda Mar Boulevard regularly to and from the beach and to do my shopping. Am I the only one who has noticed the deteriorating road surface of Linda Mar Boulevard between Highway 1 and Oddstad Boulevard especially in the eastbound direction? Several telephone calls to CalTrans have gone unanswered or dismissed.

The cost of gas is already high and with escalating costs of car repairs due to inferior road conditions today, I'm surprised that others are not complaining about this heavily traveled commuter artery. A large portion of Terra Nova Boulevard has been resurfaced within the last year. When will it be our turn?"

Comment: Stan, you're not the only one complaining about Linda Mar Boulevard. Everyone I know who lives in Linda Mar/Park Pacifica area has mention this road deterioration.  Think this is a city road expense, CalTrans should have advised.

No money for this but they want to spend $13,000 to STUDY energy saving lighting for city buildings

Just turn the freakin' lights off.

I don't see any of the hippies in town volunteering to fill the pot holes.

The one hippie Butler, at least he cleans up the beaches.

The rest of the hippies just sit back and wait for the hand outs!

epic failure

@738 pretty unfair comment I suspect. And pot holes are filled by skilled tradesmen who are paid.

I guess you are too lazy of a hippie to fill a hole with dirt!

Anon 7:38 - epic failure of a comment. I don't see anybody volunteering to fix pot holes. Does that mean everybody is waiting for handouts? I don't want volunteers fixing potholes. I want people who know what they're doing. This whole thread is dumb. The letter writer complains that his calls to Caltrans were unanswered or dismissed. That's because Caltrans is not responsible for fixing city streets. Get a clue.

Yeah it takes a heap of skilled tradesmen to fill a pot hole.

1. Shovel tar into hole & pound down.

2. Stand around talking for 30 mins

3. Go get donuts

I'm sure this is one of Pacifica's 6 figure positions.

I can feel my IQ lowering as I read these comments.

@1004, do you know how to bypass pot holes? That's our measure of IQ.

Linda Mar Blvd. potholes???
Get in line. The streets of Pacifica are a mess everywhere.

Our environment is our economy.

Highway 1, the main entrance to our town, is downright embarrassing. Weeds, litter, boarded up businesses, heavy equipment storage yards, tacky signs everywhere.

Our environment is our economy.

Bell knows potholes. Had a big one just down the street. Could have swallowed the ChitChat whole.

I believe that is also part of DMV registration fees goes to fix roads.
When paying for building fees there is a fee for highway 1.??? Applied to the rest of the ridiculous fees the city have.

Where is the money these thieves are collecting????? roads????

The roads are getting worst and dangerous. It is damaging our vehicles. We are living in a town that staring to compete with countries that people don't say nothing. What can we do? Aren't we living in a democratic country?

Observer said, What can we do?

Get involved with city politics.
Learn about the candidates for council.
Stop voting for faux enviros who pit frogs, snakes and hiking trails against sensible revenue generating development.
