Item 10. City council dialog was measured and thoughtful. In view of the current condition of San Pedro creek in that area, "Bottom line, the creek will be better off with the development than without it." Councilmember Mary Ann Nihart. And, city council consensus about the project: the long term care development is needed in our community.
The vote to certify the completed EIR and make no changes was 4-0. After 9+ years on city council, Sue Digre was still questioning the internal regulatory oversight process, but ultimately she voted with the others. Mayor DeJarnatt recused himself, because of a "perceived conflict of interest, not an actual conflict of interest", his words. DeJarnatt's mother lives in the neighborhood, and his sister spoke against the EIR findings.
