Half Moon Bay - Budget balanced through deferred maintenance

"A sign the local economy could be swinging back, Half Moon Bay leaders on Tuesday approved the first budget in years requiring no cuts and that would instead add new employees to the city’s ranks.

The good news did contain a few caveats. The city is lacking money to pay for future projects like street repairs and sewer maintenance that are part of its five-year capital improvement plan. The city would need to find about $1 million in additional funds just to meet its infrastructure goals for next year.

City officials plan to draft a half-cent sales tax measure later this year to try and increase revenues."  Read Article.
