In case you haven't heard, Osama bin Laden is dead

WASHINGTON – Osama bin Laden, the glowering mastermind behind the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks that killed thousands of Americans, was killed in an operation led by the United States, President Barack Obama said Sunday.

A small team of Americans killed bin Laden in a firefight at a compound in Pakistan, the president said in a dramatic late-night statement at the White House.

A jubilant crowd gathered outside the White House as word spread of bin Laden's death after a global manhunt that lasted nearly a decade.

"Justice has been done," the president said.

Former President George W. Bush, who was in office on the day of the attacks, issued a written statement hailing bin Laden's death as a momentous achievement. "The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done," he said.

Few details were immediately available of the operation that resulted in bin Laden's death, although the president said none of the Americans involved was harmed.

The development comes just months before the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Centers and Pentagon, orchestrated by bin Laden's al-Qaida organization, that killed more than 3,000 people.

A day of reckoning most certainly. Bravo Mr. President and US Navy Seals!

It sounds like President Obama handled this well - It had to be difficult to keep a lid on the information for the six weeks it took to pull this together. I do think he could have handled the announcement tonight better.

I think he should have waited until he could assemble a full press conference. Then he should have walked into the room holding Osama's severed head in his hand. Walk up to the podium - hold the head in the air - look around the room for a beat or two.

Then toss the head into the middle of the reporters and say....

"Any questions?"

LOL! This whole operation was put into effect by President Bush. It had been in the pipline for quite some time. It took some arm twisting by the Generals to convince Pres Obama to make the call to go through with it. Administration got to watch the whole take down, execution style in real time. Heli dropped down hard on Abbotabad , Pakistan, UBL Mansion. US Navy Seals asked UBL to surrender, he refused. He was executed. Body was identified, DNA from sister. UBL washed and wrapped disposed of within 24 hours of his execution. Video of the whole operation will be released.

We can thank Pres Obama for staying with;

Keepin Guantanmo Bay open.
WaterBoarding prisoners.
Patriot Act.
All of Pres Bush's war policies which Pres Obama campaigned against and Senator Obama voted against.

Afterall, Pres Obama threatened to cut our Military Personel pay not to long ago if Congress did not pass a budget. He is inexperienced and not to bright, but, if it were not for the arm twisting from the Generals UBL would still be living high on the HOG in a Mansion with several wives and attendants breeding like a rabbit.

KSM sold out his boss UBL. Thank You Donald Rumsfeld and Water Boarding.

This strike was conducted by the same military that Obama didn't want to pay four weeks ago.

There was a WH coup. Obama did not make the call. Intel is coming out regarding this.

THE KILLING OF UBL WAS IN FACT A COUP IN THE WHITE HOUSE. VALERIE JARRET IS ON HER WAY OUT.

"Pres Obama threatened to cut our Military Personnel pay not to long ago if Congress did not pass a budget." No Anon 435, that was your Republican congressional friends.

Shall we talk about the "math doesn't add up" Ryan budget proposal; and "medicare voucher reform" with zero inflation rider through 2020; and, the financial "bad credit" fallout if raising the debt limit fails?

Or, shall we just appreciate, unified for a moment, that justice finally came to Osama bin Laden?

Yes! Let's appreciate the moment.

The New Bin Laden drink; 2 shots and a splash.

Thank You US Navy Team 6.

Obama had nothing to do with this. Intel coming out he tried tipping off his muzzie friends.
Usurper, Go Home!

Pres Obama court marshalled a navy seal because he gave a terrorist a fat lip. REMEMBER?

Reminder: Group that Killed Bin Laden was Smeared as Dick Cheney's 'Assasination Ring'
Under Bush, JSOC was routinely smeared by the left and placed at the center of many Bush/Cheney conspiracy theories. Specifically, New Yorker reporter Seymour Hersh alleged it was Dick Cheney's personal assassination squad:
And now, all you weak ass pussies want to give a usurper , who couldnt plan anything but a big fat lie, credit for planning this. Give me a fucking break. YOU HAVE NO CREDIBILITY!

IOWAHAWK: American Pride is Back Out of the Closet! “Who is to credit for this rebirth in American national unity? First and foremost, we must cite the leadership of President Obama. Like many Americans – and the Nobel Peace Prize committee – I naively feared he was actually serious when he initially proposed shutting down Guantanamo, trying detainees in American civilian courts, and prior consultation with the international community. Little did I know that this untested young Commander-in-Chief would muster the courage to read his weekly Gallup numbers and, in one daring unilateral extra-judicial targeted hit job, toss aside every single idiotic foreign policy principle of his election campaign. Perhaps most satisfyingly, it was a mission made possible thanks to information extracted by methods he previously banned as ‘illegal torture.’”

Glenn, (11:25am), whether waterboarding is effective is still in question, as are the middle eastern wars from the Bush administration. The courier information ultimately leading to bin Laden's location did not come from waterboarding torture (as I understand it thus far).

The ambiguous roll of the Pakistan government (if any) is still unknown. BBC account, 5/3/11.

Needless to say "Geranimo" (11:17am), what is easily learned from you is that you need to clean-up your language, as well as your reasoning.

Congratulations to President Obama for a mission accomplished. Too bad George W. couldn't pull it off.

There is some BS about him not being armed when he was shot... Um... wasn't that like his work ethic... killing unarmed people?

From Newsmax:

"Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld tells Newsmax the information that led to the killing of Osama bin Laden was obtained through “normal interrogation approaches” and says the notion that terrorist suspects were waterboarded at Guantanamo Bay is a “myth.”

"Too bad George W. couldn't pull it off".
Depends on how you define Mission Accomplished.
W and his crime buddies pulled off the biggest, bloodiest, costliest bank heist in the history of mankind.

What a bunch of nitwits on Fix. God bless America and the Prez! Say what you want but that nasty little job is done.

How'd they find him? Dude's listed in the Abbotabad phone book. Pakistan's our ally in the War on Terror, right?

You got that right Mike. I think of BUSHCO as the EBOLA virus that killed the world. They came, they destroyed then they moved on. As for OBL, the dirty deed is done. If there is any regret by me it's that our nation lost so much more since 9/11 voluntarily and involuntarily and we have in the process killed hundreds of thousands of others for BUSHCO fortunes. If you haven't read Richard Clark's book about 9/11 it's a dozie. We should be prosecuting Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney and their underlings for War Crimes, but that will never happen.
