Are these actually Chamber-sponsored events? Or is the Chamber merely maintaining a calendar of city and privately run events? Oddly titled.

1047, I have added a comma to the title to separate Chamber of Commerce from community events. Open the link. How would you title the Pacifica Chamber of Commerce "Events Caldendar"? I added "community" in an attempt to separate any official Chamber of Commerce group designation, although I suspect many of these organizations may be members of the Chamber of Commerce. On the calendar, City Council (12/22/14) was also noted as cancelled. I did not include that (and that's not private).

The events listing was of interest during this holiday week. Did you know this calendar existed previously? Its permanent, and continues through the coming year. Similar to all our community lists, its not a complete list. (One location where all city activities could be listed would be good.)

Just IMO...Community Events Calendar would be fine. Let the link do the rest. Or " A calendar of community events published by the Pacifica Chamber of Commerce". Seems like the CoC role should be clear. No question that the calendar is a valuable public service.

1159, tell it to the Chamber of Commerce. Their calendar is what it is, a selective combination of private business, charity, and public events or meetings. I would prefer a different central city event/meeting source (volunteer but monitored), and separately an earnest Chamber effort working to support and promote business and development in this city-- period! There is no reason the Chamber should run such a selective list. But if they do, good idea to designate Chamber organization or business member.

The vested overlapping anti-progress interests in this city contribute to a civic alliance of fuzz and confusion, which seem to actively work against the possible achievable goal: city progress. (City progress is good for the city, and generally good for business). Our people need to be enlightened through clear communication-- for example, where was the holiday announcement this year: shop locally! Mayor Ed Lee made that announcement for San Francisco, but no such announcement from either our city or the Chamber.

From the Chamber list: seriously, how many Chamber member families will be standing in line at a specific time, date and place to receive a bag of "second harvest" groceries because they qualify at 200% below poverty? Better, how many families that poor are tuned-in to the Chamber website, much less their events list?

As much as I tend to disagree with most city views of Chris Fogel (politically, economically, structurally)-- its easy to acknowledge his Pacifica Index website is/was brilliant! Such a model would be an appropriate venue for a community meeting/event notification list, separate or attached to the city website. And if the city is interested in delivering transparency and modernization to their public website, they might also consider hiring Chris Fogel as a consultant and/or to design an effective information/research system. Ever try to find anything specific on the city website? Good luck.

The Pacifica Chamber of Commerce put together this list of community events to centralize as many events that they knew about in one place. It is the Chamber's list and the Chamber's employees that are making the list available to the community. This list has the more than most lists and if anyone reading this would like to have an event listed, please call the Chamber to get instructions on how to do this. Give me a break all of you.

Oh gee I forgot to add something. If your garbage pickup is Thursday, you will be picked up Saturday the next two weeks.
