What Peninsula city councils are doing this week

Highlights of peninsula city council meetings look rather familiar this week. Not much going on there it seems.

Palo Alto Daily News/Staff Report, 11/23/12. "On the Docket"
Look outside Pacifica city council, here

"San Carlos - Monday.  The council is scheduled to select a mayor and vice mayor and to receive a report on the city government's greenhouse gas emissions.

Menlo Park - Tuesday.  The council is scheduled to discuss the possibility of installing solar panels at four city facilities and to review the status of a potential plastic bags ban.

Atherton - Wednesday.  The council is scheduled to review reports on a potential traffic signal at Selby Lane and El Camino Real and on a proposed joint powers agreement with the San Mateo County Library.

Portola Valley - Wednesday. At this special meeting, the council is scheduled to interview and appoint members to the town's Planning Commission and the Architectural and Site Control Commission.

Los Altos - Thursday.  The city council is scheduled to hold a study session with its representatives on the Los Altos School District superintendent's enrollment growth task force."

While our council gives Recology another rate increase. Shame on you Pacifican, for not paying attention to our shameless council you deserve higher garbage charges.

You don't pay attention and this empty chairs(5) city council will tax and spend it's way to bankruptcy.

Well, duh. That's how they saved the school district and we now have Ervin and O'Neill from the school board and good old Mary Ann who got her political start leading the troops on a successful school tax measure. She's joined at the hip with that crowd and that's a real block of votes. Oh, don't worry, we'll be manipulated into being grateful we can save Pacifica with new taxes. You're going to feel sooo good you won't even notice what these mumsers waste the money on. Don't look.

yup. we've now got a majority of experienced taxers on the council.

I am not really too sure the school district was saved. Maybe just bought time by kicking obligations down the road. Remember the voters gave the school district bond money to do the improvements at Terra Nova.

Tax and Spenders.

anon338 that's what qualifies as being "saved"...just kick the can long enough for the next bunch to have to "save" us again. no where is this practice as refined and perfected as in pacifica.

Give this new council a chance to make a difference.
They are smart and a far cry away from the no growth group who special interested us into bankruptcy.

Yeah, they like taxes a lot more than prior group which is going to work out nice for them because new taxes are our only option to stay afloat--maybe stay afloat. Council will look like genuises.

Oh yes they're different. Yup, they like taxes a lot more than any prior group and at least 3 of them know a lot about tax measures and how to sell them to the public. This is going to work out nice for them because new taxes are our only option to stay afloat--that is maybe we'll stay afloat. Council will look like genuises. That'll be different.

The new council will be fighting after 3 month's!

It won't take that long. Did you notice in the Trib a couple weeks back the article where Ms. Nihat said she was thrilled for Karen to win. No mention of O'Neill's victory. Was she not so thrilled?
I'm thrilled. O'Neill is thrilled.

The puppet master needs puppets so she can pull the strings.

If you dis-obey the puppet master all hell will break loose.

They haven't even taken office yet.
I say, give them a chance to do something for the endangered human habitat in Pacifica.
Require that that they start generating revenue by stimulating business, tourism and rational development.
If they only raise taxes and do none of the above, VOTE 'em OUT!

You're right Mike. The new council hasn't even started to serve yet and they're being blamed for everything from raising our taxes to siding with the NIMBY's.

Mike:

We said vote them out after:

Loeb
Howard
Vreeland
Lancelle
Digree
Degarnatt

hahaha you'll be adding a few more names to that list. all we did was replace the nimbys with a bunch of closet nimby, sneaky tax and spenders.

Democracy is messy but it belongs to us.
Stay involved and keep them accountable.
Persistance is highly under-rated.

Mikey, Did you catch the story about the school board feeding stale food to the kids.

Looks like O'Neal was sleeping on this one.

Yeah, everyone who files a suit is on the side of the angels. Wink wink.

It's all starting to make sense now.
O'neil caused stale sandwiches. Obama caused Benghazi.
