Health care passes, and the world doesn't end

It's actually sunny this morning. With all the hysteria, who'd a thunk it?

Yea, its more like "Morning in America".

Yea -- despite the Party of Ronald Reagan.

37 sitting House Democrats voted against the health care bill. Zero Republicans voted for the health care bill.

The Democrats admitted that we are now a Socialist America. They are no longer hiding that fact.

This is a really cool chart of Obama's accomplishments. You can scroll over parts of the charts and get an explanation.

Kathleen is right.

I saw, with my own eyes, Representative Dennis Kucinich, address the Chamber yesterday stating, "It's apparent that we Demoncrats can no longer hide the fact: we are now a Socialist America."

Pelosi was on Larry King last evening and she said, "With this victory we are that much closer to abolishing private property and the concept of 'ownership' in this country. I think Stalin would be proud of this moment. Frankly, it brings a tear to my eye."

God bless you, Kathleen, for calling us to action. I am stocking up on supplies (apple rings) and ammunition (sarcastic barbs) to ride this one out in my compound (apartment bathroom).

Democrats future voting block will soon receive amnesty from our President. Check out Joe Legal vs Jose Illegal Video.

Right, private property American will be dismantled? What else will you far-right people come-up with next?

Zero Republicans voted for the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003 also. And, Republicans were obstructionist when Medicare occurred in 1965, under President Johnston.

Meantime, this round Republicans have been talk about what they "would do" (woulda, coulda, shoulda), while they refused to participate.

Rather than work with facts, Republicans whipped-up the adversarial campaign alluding to quality control panels as "death panels", then there was "putting grandma to sleep". Unfortunately the bill is weakened as the result of such nonsense, but hopefully that will be worked-out over time-- just as modern Medicare has been, and continues to evolve.

Kathy Meeh said...

Kathleen, now the issue is illegal with great benefits, vs.legal with no benefits. Sounds like a plan-- for you. What the heck, you don't need those social security benefits anyway-- today.

It doesn't make sense to you....but makes total sense to me. Passing this health care bill is the goverments way to socialism and they will do whatever it takes to get it. One day they will completely control us and we will be no better off than Germany and Adolph Hitler. I fear for my children and what they will go through in the future. Just because the goverment "did something" does not mean it was a good thing. I believe it was a turn in a VERY bad direction. One day...I won't be able to choose my insurance....my insurance will go out of business because of the gov and then I will be forced to take gov insurance. They will decide WHO gets surgeries and procedures....the elderly will not get them because it will be viewed as a waste of money....they will give the younger the surgeries and procedures they need since they will still be working and paying taxes....just wait....you will see. You better hope your parents and grandparents stay healthy....

oh...and no one will forget who opposed or didn't on this one....this legislation will come back to haunt the American people....but...scripture says it will happen....and all is falling in place for the Lord's coming....I hope He comes quick. I'm ready...are you?

P.S. A little green man riding in a UFO told me all this.

The Democrat health care plan is so bad that they are threatening imprisonment and fines to get you to go along with it. Imagine that, they will put you away for not purchasing a product that you don't want. ...

Kathy, Medicare is bankrupt. The Republicans were right for not voting for it, it did not work.

Someone wrote this:
I'M SICK OF INHERITED"

The Washington Post babbled again today about Obama inheriting a huge deficit from Bush, blah blah blah. Amazingly enough, a lot of people swallow this nonsense.

So once more, I'll try a short civics lesson.

Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress, and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democratic Party. They controlled the budget process for FY 2008 and FY 2009, as well as FY 2010 and FY 2011. In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases. For FY 2009, though, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the FY 2009 budgets.

And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete FY 2009.

Let's remember what the deficits looked like during that period:

If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the FY 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets. If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself.

In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is: I inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th.

That’s the Truth, the whole Truth and nothing but the Truth….!

There are 200 Republican amendments in the bill. It is a bipartisan bill because of that even without a single Republican vote.

Yeah, Right... said...

Please give us just 10 of the 200 Republican amendments, Anonymous. Okay, 5 then. How about just 1? And, of course, please provide your source.

Steve Sinai said...

Here's a cryptic set of amendments, both Dem. and Rep. from Politico. I have no clue as to what they actually do.

Amendments to Health Care Bill

Steve Sinai says: "Here's a cryptic set of amendments, both Dem. and Rep. from Politico. I have no clue as to what they actually do"

Then why are you referring to them? I don't see one amendment that is remotely related to health care. In fact, the reference you have provided relates to the "Restoring American Financial Stability Act" which would overhaul government regulation of the financial industry.

I can't even say nice try.

Memorable quotes of late surrounding the Health Care Bill debate:

“the American public overwhelmingly voted for socialism when they elected President Obama.” -Rev. Al Sharpton

"There ain't no rules here, we're trying to accomplish something. . . .All this talk about rules. . . .When the deal goes down . . . we make 'em up as we go along." – Alcee Hastings (D) Florida, member of the House Rules Committee

“But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, ...” -Nancy Pelosi (D), Speaker of the House

“If you don't tie our hands, we'll keep stealing” -Rep. Tom Perriello (D-Va.)

Is Medicare is bankrupt, Kathleen? Not exactly although there have been additional programs and expenses added. Medicare has been funded prior in the future, and for now will be funded in the present, and/or money will be taken from reserves. Some efficiencies and cost funding changes will need to be made which will not include "putting grandma to sleep early". There is government oversight to this, Medicaid, and alternative choice programs (Advantage HMO, PPO, PFFS Plans). No need to be alarmed.

Regarding the new health care bill, there will be amendments and improvements. And, well see how the lawsuit from some of the states affects that.

I had a doll when I was a little girl. I called it Bark Nugget. All it ever did was whine and wet its pants.

Let me get Nancy Pelosi and I will show you. She is so corrupt. I have this awesome video of her in the mission district, promising illegals gov union jobs. So, as I was hanging out in the back round, I yelled out to her, "What about me?!"

Kathleen Rogan said...

She hurt me good.

Maybe Pelosi will retire on her golden retirement plan when she hits 70 years old on March 26. We can only hope.

Anonymous said...

LOL! She doesn't look a day older than 100. Hope she enjoys travelling the globe on her private jets while all the time reaping the benefits of her federal Cadillac health care plan. As for the rest of us poor schmucks who are left holding the bill, let us eat cake...

Kathy Meeh said...

Kathleen, I could explain to you why social security and medicare are not "bankrupt", but in protest of that path to fact there would come those big letters of shouting back again. The system continues to need upgrading, and seems to be improving as it goes. It isn't going away. If it needs more money (which is does) the government knows how to get that.

Medicare A (hospital)currently no charge to those who qualify, a fully paid-in-advance earned benefit from 40 quarters of payroll taxes funded by a 1.45% tax from the employee and the employer each. Those who don't qualify can buy this benefit. So how would you fix this? Even I can figure that one out.

Medicare B (doctor) funded through the general fund, 25% direct enrollee cost. The current fees is about $97 monthly for most people, up to only $200+ for people of greater wealth.

Medicare supplemental insurance (covers approximate 20-25% of the gap not covered by Medicare A and B, and other benefits including 365 extra hospital days, depends upon the plan. Fees are generally age-rated, generally between $100-350 monthly.

Alternative to supplement, Medicare C: Medicare Advantage (HMO, PPO, Fee-for-Service plans. Low premium, higher co-pays and co-insurance. Government pays the insurance carrier monthly per enrollee based upon zip code geographical formula. These plans are just an alternative to Medicare A, B and possibly D.

Medicare D, Pharmacy. Different insurance carriers offer different levels of benefit and drug formularies (generic and brand.

The government is the oversight agency, and sets the rules. Other than that the system is private. Even the Medicare A (hospital) claims are administrated and paid through intermediaries (Insurance Carriers)-- all private enterprise. Since 1965 the government continues (slowly) to learn efficiencies, and more recently has been seriously in the business of busting fraud, and bad business practices by the contracted agencies and providers.

Kathleen doesn't want to be forced to pay for healthcare. That's perfectly understandable.

It's a good thing Kathleen didn't go to public school, doesn't drive on the interstate highways, won't collect social security, won't benefit from medicaide, has never collected unemployment, and never benefited from the protection our military provides our country...

...or else I'd accuse her of selective outrage.

Kathleen Rogan said...

Kathy, you said "If it needs more money (which is does) the government knows how to get that."

LOLOLOL!! You made a funny

@Anonymous, I have always paid my own health care.
Public School is a black hole where no amount of funding is enough. Like I said, schools need to go scream at sacramento, who stole their money.

I have never collected unemployment. I have never collected or sucked on gov tit. America has been good to me. I have the greatest respect for the military and don't mind my tax dollars paying for Home Land Security. But, people like me are running thin and the tit suckers are becoming a larger group. So, when you start to weigh things OUT , it is so completely out of balance we can't possibly sustain this past and current level of living. You think schools have it bad now??? You ain't seen nothing yet, and you probably think the democrats will save you. Don't you?

Tit Suckers said...

Kathleen that seriously cracked me up. If you where not married I would ask you to marry me.

Tit sucker is a hippy right?

Kathleen Rogan said...

Seriously, you can now stay on your parents benefits until you are 26 years old?! What is that?! You should of heard what my mother said about that one. She raised five kids, sometimes more, on her own and never took a gov hand out. Friends, Family and Community helped make the rough days of being poor seem like it was no big thing. Now you get an Obama Phone, so you don't look and feel poor.
