City Council Meeting 3-8-2010

Item 14, page 3; Agenda Summary, Resolution, Exhibit A pages 62-68

At city council (3/8/10) Councilmember Jim Vreeland called Bernie Sifry's term limits campaign "anti-American". Mr. Vreeland, its "anti-American" to put Term Limits on the ballot? Negative comments were made by all city councilmembers, except Mayor Sue Digre who gracefully said she supports putting (grass roots) initiatives on the ballot.

Mayor Digre did not mention the $40, 000 cost, whereas as all other city council members did. Apparently the others forgot about so many consultants they've hired to do "nothing" for this city, and the cost to 1) hired a consultant to determine how best to tax Pacificans, then 2) put Measure D on the ballot last Spring. And, when that additional "Pacifica exclusive 1% sales tax" failed, then Mayor Lancelle suggested those who like "economic development" might "move-out-of- town" (destination Daly City I believe).

Term limits exists throughout the United States in cities, counties, states and federal government offices--so, how "anti-American" is that Councilmember Vreeland? Possibly this city council thinks of their tenure more like that of the United States Supreme Court (lifetime).

In the Fall, 2010, term limits will be on the ballot. Also on the ballot will be "improved economy" city council challengers. Vote smart!

To my knowledge 3 pro-economy, pro-business, pro-citizen, pro-responsible environmentalism "fair and ethical", intelligent Pacificans-- different from the current oligarchical city council and "friends" government advocating late 60's commune-style "volunteer" contribution we have now.

They will have to announce their candidacy when they are ready. We need to support change for this city.
