About the (GOP) Tea Party "President's Trip" rumor

Want respect? How about you give us facts?

The rumors
Anderson Cooper Report 11/5/10. Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann (Minnesota 6th district) flunked credibility, intelligence and accountability when  she was asked by Anderson Cooper (11/4/10) whether her proposed Federal cost cutting measures included Medicare. Bachmann's disconnected response:  "the President's trip to India will cost $200 million daily"..."these are the numbers coming-out in the press".
Source by "Anonymous", no verification.  Turns out the President's trip cost to Asia rumor "source" was from India TV through a comment made by an anonymous person, who may or may not have been an  India official, but certainly in no way was connected with the US government, or its Accountability Office.
No attempt at fact-finding. No attempt was made by Bachmann or other Tea Party representatives to clarify, understand or correct the false information rumor. In fact, Tea Party "opinion news" chose to embellished the rumor through pundits such as Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage and others.  Limbaugh pounded the excessive trip cost, Beck promoted the trip as a vacation, Savage referred to the trip as a "royalist visit."

The reality

Length of the trip, countries. The President's diplomatic business trip begins Saturday, November 6th. He is traveling to 4 Asian countries (India, Indonesia, South Korea and Japan). The trip will continue over 9 days (10 days also reported may account for timezone variations).
The trip is no vacation
PBS 11/5/10 News Hour. "He (President Obama) plans to meet with world leaders, participate in the G-20 and APEC economic summits, and give a speech on U.S. outreach to the Muslim community."  The  mission of the trip is clearly diplomatic, to secure and advance USA business interests and international security relations.
Cost and security. The exact cost of the trip is not known, but  based upon prior Presidential trips overseas, cost might be about $5.5 million dollars daily, total cost about $50 million dollars .*

Scotty, with regard to your comment on the Taj Mahal article... since most of us work at being both principled and adult, what I want the Anonymous Tea Party people who post here to "get" is the message from the Anderson Cooper's report, and this article: stay on fact, "there is plenty 'wrong' to talk about, you don't need to make-up stuff."

Thank You, Kathy. You work very hard for the Puppet Master and will be rewarded richly for your dedication to the implementation of the New World Order. Your reward will be sent to you in the form of US Dollars. Invest it wisely. HaHaHaHa!

Yes, this is a good post, and looks like I may have inadvertently put your picture on it. The "puppet master" you didn't define is likely good vs. evil.

The Tea Party thinks that secession of the states is the answer. I thought with our dumbing down of all students in our public schools of indoctrination it would of prevented a movement like the Tea Party. But no, My Evil Plan has been somewhat derailed. Health Care is not working fast enough to kill all the old white people that make up most of the Tea Party movement. With my backing and funding of legalization of marijuana failing , I can't control the sale and who gets to grow, and therefore has prevented me from making even more billions. Yes, this was most upsetting to me. The little people are smarter than I thought. Now, my New World Order plan may still have a chance as long as I have support of the brainwashed like you, Kathy. At last, it is good to know that the dumbing down worked on one person. Billions have been lost on that failed project. Back to digging for Gold in America's mountains and destroying the US Dollar. Goodbye My Lovely Brainless Clueless Puppet.

How much can I get paid if I work for the Puppet Master?

Kathy Meeh said...

"Evil 9:46pm", you won't have to go back to "digging for gold in America's mountains", Glenn Beck will sell it to you, along with the rubbish he has spun about George Soros, who Beck refers to as "the Puppet Master" (your shabby esoteric reference).

Here is Beck's part 6 attack (video) on Soros from Media Matters. Note: President George HW Bush was first to introduce the notion of "world order" to this country.

Sorry but well deserved, 10/20/10 George Soros announced he is giving $1 million to Media Matters "to hold Fox News accountable for the false and misleading information they so often broadcast."

Here's the George Soros website, including a video. His political focus "speak truth to power"; and he is a truly a wealthy philanthropist who does good work. For a broad secondary reference try the the Wikipedia view of George Soros. Note he is also an entrepreneur, currency trader, investor, philosopher, political activist (liberal).

As Anonymoose said "How much can I get paid if I work for the Puppet Master"-- that puppet master?

Your link about the $1 million to Media Matters is too funny. It's almost like "I didn't have sex with Monica".

Kathy Meeh said...

Lois, what you've presented is another example supporting my article. Rumor based upon comments taken out-of-context from a right-wing blog "romaticpoet" does not rise to the merit of fact. Not rising to the merit of fact, but running with unsubstantiated rumor is a major credibility breach within the GOP Tea Party, and promoted by pundits such as Limbaugh, Beck, Savage, and right-wing blogs such as the one you just referenced. The contest of myth from these sources vs. fact-driven information is not a contest of equals.

Did Soros make contributions to Media Matters? Not directly, some of the Foundations he gives money to have included Media Matters as one of their beneficiaries (as stated by Wikipedia).

There's another component, Soros has made a $1 million contribution to Media Matters to expose the lies from Fox pundit media. From my view he's a hero!

Anon, best comment from the 11:30am video was Glenn Beck saying "don't take my word for it"-- agreed,I don't take Glenn Beck's word for ANYTHING. Here's the Larry O'Donnell response. The context: "O'Donnell said that he was a socialist because he supports programs such as Medicare and Social Security -- which are, he said explicitly socialistic at heart. He described Medicare as "a socialist idea whose time had come in a capitalist society." Moreover, he said, everyone who supports such programs is supporting socialism."

Here's the Wikipedia easy to distinguish and understand versions of Progressive (a liberal foundation) from Socialism an economic system. Mature countries with big populations generally have certain shared advantages and benefits. Want to call that component socialism, or insurance, or addressing common human concerns, well.

PS: Scotty, as mentioned by Lois, your slurred "name calling" of the Tea Party name continues to be annoying. And, if you want to take me on for being "annoying" you might want to also add words.

Kathy Meeh said...

Glen Beck anti-education campaign is way out of control, through simplistic props, and drama as he paints a "shadow world conspiracy". And BTW what book is is quoting on this part 2 video?

Beck is concerned about George Soro's contributing to organizations and charities--yet he fails to disclose that the television station of his rant is owned by Rupert Murdoch, owner of worldwide News Corporation. Another instance of a really rich guy supporting a message. This rich guy happens to be conservative, and allows fact abuse and inflammatory opinion on his television network programs.

Glen Beck part 2 begins anti-union, while he points to a book prop describing a shadow world conspiracy-- what book was he is quoting? More props: a big flash light, and a witch on a screen--woo woo. Then Beck said "make it look like something else"-- isn't that just what he's doing? Ultimately he said nothing of substance while he promoted all viewers to anticipate his part 3 tomorrow-- a whopper of revealed "truth" he says (really more spin, and a disappointing re-hash of some of the same stuff). (Reference: Part 3, Anon 11:47am, my follow-up comments 12:02pm).

http://9-11domorethenneverforget-stopislam.blogspot.com/2010/11/hidden-soros-agenda-drugs-money-media.htmlOctober 27, 2004

Excerpt: "How many times have we heard or read stories about Vice President Dick Cheney’s old firm, Halliburton, and its alleged influence over the government? A public company with more than 100,000 employees, Halliburton had revenues of $13 billion in 2001. However, George Soros is a human Halliburton who will be in a position if John Kerry is elected president to pull the strings. He is reportedly worth $7.2 billion. But his role in buying the White House for John Kerry has received generally positive coverage. Soros, we’re told, is a “philanthropist” committed to “democracy.” The Republican Party, by contrast, is supposed to be run by fat cats and Big Business, such as those at Halliburton.

Soros may be the biggest political fat cat of all time. Convicted in France of insider trading, Soros specializes in weakening or collapsing the currencies of entire nations for his own selfish interests. He is known as the man who broke the Bank of England. His power is such that his statements alone can cause currencies to go up or down. Other people suffer so he can get rich. But journalists don’t want to examine the questionable means by which he achieved his wealth because they share his goal of electing Kerry and the Democrats. Curiously, once he made his fortune he became a global socialist, endorsing global taxes on the very means he employed to get rich — international currency speculation and manipulation.

Actually, it is quite the opposite. I have been sending well researched documentation to news outlets for years about George Soros. I am in San Francisco. His money is well spent here. I have seen what his money has done and how well it has been received by local 501 groups. We could never get a news media to report on George Soros, until Fox News was willing to take a very risky chance. We have been rolling ever since.

George Soros very recently has opened all new Hedge Fund offices in China. The destruction of America is underway and happening as I post. Don't say someone did not try to warn you. Good Luck.

There is still tens of thousdand of ballots in the state of California that still have not been counted. Demand that ALL VOTES get counted. Steve Sinai said...

"I have been told by my sources that these are mostly republican votes."

Who are your sources? The six-foot tall, invisible bunny rabbit that follows you around?

Anonymous said...

I'm a Republican and my vote got counted... you can check with the local County office. So... Republican, you may have bad information or are just foolish.

Republican said...

Channel 2 news, Reported early this morning that tens of thousands of votes have not been counted. Is that a source you will believe? Sometimes I really am amazed at how little people keep themselves informed. Other sources, People for a Better Calif., Sec of State, Rep Party. Just to name a few.

Steve Sinai said...

I've worked as a poll worker before, and know the county gives themselves something like 21 or 30 days after an election to count all the mail-in and provision ballots. I'm not surprised they haven't finished that yet.

It's your claim that most of those votes are from Republicans that's crap.

Anonymous said...

I'm not defending the statement, but I think the point was that there were a number of mail-in ballots that hadn't been counted yet, and since most Republicans vote by mail, most of these uncounted ballots would necessarily be Republican-cast.

I think.

Republican said...

Thank You. SS has a hard time reading.

Kathy Meeh said...

Anon/Republican, most mail-in ballots delivered on time were counted first unless there was some reason to contest. That was viewable on internet through San Mateo County election results ("Shape the Future") the night of the election.

Not yet counted balances may be those contested, possibly delivered to polling locations, overseas, military. Probably best not to count on a partisan Republican miracle to overturn the existing election results.

Steve's time table to certify the election sounds about right, think I heard November 30th on the news.

"...tens of thousands of votes have not been counted" Republican, really? Probably not in San Mateo County, or California--more likely in Alaska.

Anon/Republican, enough. Here's the deal I have with you going forward: either you drop the offensive SS slur in referring to Steve, or I'll be calling you "teabagger" (and reference the definition). Got it? How's that for easy to understand?

Steve Sinai said...

I don't care about being referred to as SS.

Republican's comment made it clear he/she/it thought there was some kind of conspiracy going on in the state to ignore Republican mail-in ballots. Why else would he/she/it ask us to write our Congressman?

One of the hallmarks of a wing-nut is that they believe in conspiracies.

Kathy Meeh said...

Steve, oh the voting conspiracy, I forgot about that one. Good information link!

My prior comment stands, although I should have added an additional sentence that you might not care about being referred to as "SS". But, I do care about that particular slurred name calling. The reference is highly toxic and offensive to me personally-- and should be to anyone who is aware of the horrors of WWII.

Unknown said...

Gee, so forget about all the people who are totally offended to have a whole block of voters referred to as "teabaggers". Really makes sense to me, Kathy. It seems to me to always be "ok" if you say so - otherwise things are wrong, wrong, wrong.

But I guess you are the "Boss Lady" of this Blog.

Scotty said...

It's you right-wingers who talk about "tea-bagging the White House" and "tea-bagging Obama". It really tears me up when I hear white middle-class Christians whine about how oppressed they are.

Unknown said...

I have never said anything of the sort about the President or his White House. I have never said I was "oppressed". Offended? Yes because I think if you have an opinion, you should be able to express it without calling names. I don't consider my self a "right winger". I am a conservative. Even Jon Stewart says it has gone too far with the rudeness of these comments. You really are a "wonder" Scotty.

It really is a very horrible slur against a large group of people.

Unknown said...

Can you give me an example, Scotty, of your "quotes" where "right wingers" spoke about such things?

Kathy Meeh said...

Lois, are you taking the "SS" holocaust reference lightly? 6 million Jews, 5 million other people (including Germans) killed by the Nazis.

Maybe compare that to some tasteless name only calling to Tea Party members. Some people don't even realize the slurred distinction between Tea Party and "teabagger". I learned from you and did not repeat the error. We could all use some sensitive training on this blog. "Anonymous Republican" can learn just as I did, if not...well, you know me.

As for your "boss" comments, I post on this blog the same as you-- its public.

Clarity sometimes occurs with multiple years of knowledge, but tolerance and dismissal of underlying issues. Yesterday, on C-Span book reviews I heard the account of an old woman who lived through the Nazi history. Her family lived in Auschwitz on a little farm. When the Nazis took over the town her family was separated (ultimately killed); she survived, but was subjected to slave labor, malnutrition, a death march where only a small percentage survived. After the war she came to America.

The Germans were among the smartest, most cultured, technologically advanced people on the planet, and that nightmare happened within their civilization. It could also happen here, that's why some of us are concerned with some of the alarming rhetoric we hear periodically.

Unknown said...

I don't read into things as much as you do Kathy. I didn't realize it was a holocaust reference. What I saw was SS = Steve Sinai. It would be like referring to me as LR. So, sorry, I didn't realize it was a slur. There is so much garbage on this Blog that most of it goes over my head, Thank God.

What I do see from you, though, Kathy, is a complete denial of anything that is derogatory with what is going on in our United States of America with our current Congress and House. We cannot continue with the spending of monies that we do not have. That is my big issue with what is going on today. Spend within our means. I believe that is the main issue of the Tea Party.

My maiden name was Schultz so growing up in the 50's was a lesson in itself about prejudice.

Tax Cut=when you keep your hard earned money.

Yes, I believe this republican/conservative believes that the extended Bush Tax Cuts for ALL Americans is a good idea. Americans will do a better job with their own money than the government would do. I have more faith in my fellow American than the democrats do. You want to keep spending? then find another way to raise money, cause you can't have mine. You get enough already. The People have spoken, so you better pay attention.

Kathy Meeh said...

Lois, thanks for your thoughtful comments. My view of congress (out-of-control dumb spending, redundant services, slow efficiency, regulation failure, and subsequent current economic conditions) is not quite as rosy as you might think. And, BTW your family last name is "Schulz": I'm confused, are you related to Charlie Brown (lol)?

Republican 9:17pm, the richest 2% of Americans already have the lion's share of tax breaks, and you want to gift them a renewal of the past 10 years x $700 billion annually? How much is that over 10 years (I get lost in the big numbers), is that 7 trillion dollars? THAT'S A VERY NICE GIFT INDEED.

But, you've got to be kidding. What will the wealthiest 2% in America possibly spend all that money on? Think about it, bet most of that money won't be trickling down to you or me. And didn't you previously say your mortgage was in foreclosure?

Did "the people" really speak to support the rich while all that money that could help pay down the government debt if nothing else? Does that really sound like a plan to you?

Kathy Meeh said...

BTW, here's what looks like a pretty good information on the SS. Hitler's henchmen.

Would have added the "ss" link last night but was having too good of a time giving "Republican" 9:17pm a bad time. Having said that, Republican, I think most of us understand and appreciate the concept of shared "fairness". But here's where that theory breaks down: what's happened over the past 40 years is that with the existing tax code advantages the rich have become richer and the rest of us poorer. In part, that's the reason you won't get much agreement with Democrats (and others) on this issue.

I also think if the Tea Party is advancing this additional tax break for the richest 2% (who don't need it), they are using those of you with good intent as their "henchmen". (Just adding a little edge here).

Anonymous said...

I agree , extend all Bush Tax Cuts.

Anonymous said...

Estimates are that extending Bush tax cuts for millionaires will add as much as $4 trillion to the deficit. Who is going to pay for that? One way or another, you are. You will not keep your hard earned money. You may lose it and your house.

Don't you understand how much the gazillionaires are hurting in this country?!! Let's give 'em a break!

Since we no longer have any semblance of a manufacturing base, any recovery will rest squarely upon the backs of middle-class consumer spending. That's why we must re-direct any income upwards, always upwards all the while cutting any middle-class assistance off at the knees!

US Government is broke for spending to much money. Americans are pretty secure, but not as secure financially as they used to be due to government interference. Extend all Bush Tax Cuts. Government has no business taking anymore of our money. They can deal with the deficit by cutting out spending for let's say, for example, their paychecks for starters. All their health care, by-the-way, they opted out of Obamacare. Make them pay for their own health care like I do. There is millions of programs that need to be cut. Stay out of my pockets.

A good blog is one where they expose both parties and politicians. Both parties are very corrupt. When Pres Bush pushed through George Soros funded bills; Immigration Reform, Feingold/McCain Campaign Reform. Those two bills directly harmed America and the true conservatives voted against the Republican Party for it. Why would a so-called conservative president do that? Pres Bush even said he would of voted for obama over mccain if they asked him to. I see there are many in Pacifica that can't wait for the moment when they can finally reveal who they really are and what they want to happen to all of us. Anon 10:56am, unfortunately you need high school civics and correct data, but even when it put in front of you, you deflect the issue.
