The problem with being anonymous?

Comments may be valuable even when an individual is not identified, but when there are multiple comments from several individuals who refer to themselves as "Anonymous" the overlap becomes a confusing total "identity".

If for some reason you choose to remain in the shadows rather than use your given name, why not visit www.google.com and change or create a gmail identity to distinguish yourself from others?  With an existing account at try changing your "nick name" for the specific comment post in which you wish to remain in the shadows.  Otherwise, this is Pacifica, be proud enough of what you have to say to use your own name.  Just a suggestion.

I couldn't agree more. anonymous commenting is cowardly and counter-productive.

Until it's a requirement to register (which Sinai will never implement despite the joke that Fix Pacifica has become), I'll continue to exercise the option to post anonymously.

Around the middle of August, by which time the city council candidates will need to have announced, I plan on making people include an email address in order to submit a comment. The email address won't be publicly displayed, and people can still post anonymously.

At least with the email addresses, I'll have some idea of who's submitting serial insults, which might scare away those who submit 5-6 of those in a row.

Thanks Steve, hopefully the folks who use this blog to vent with no constuctive comments will find another outlet.
