Open Space Committee Applicants

I'm not sure how useful or effective the various advisory committees in town are, and at times it seems like the Open Space Committee should be more accurately called the "No Economic Development Committee". But that aside, the Open Space Committee currently has one opening that needs to be filled. Four people applied, and their applications are listed below.

http://www.fixpacifica.com/docs/Grimm_Ryan_Redacted.pdf

http://www.fixpacifica.com/docs/Patton_Arlene_Redacted.pdf

http://www.fixpacifica.com/docs/Natesan_Ellen_Redacted.pdf

http://www.fixpacifica.com/docs/Stegink_Dan_Redacted.pdf

I have to admit, I got a laugh out of  the, "Consensus-builder with extensive online following" self-description from one of the candidates.

The vote to decide who will fill the opening will take place on April 10. Contact city council with your opinions before then.

The Mission of the Open Space and Parkland Advisory Committee

The Open Space and Parkland Advisory Committee has been established to consider issues related to natural areas that are proposed to be dedicated to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA), lands that are proposed to be dedicated open space, parklands that are under the jurisdiction of the GGNRA and areas operated by the San Mateo County Parks Department.

The primary objectives of the committee are to make recommendations to the City Council on 1) the policy and procedures of the National Park Service as they relate to areas of the GGNRA within the City of Pacifica and adjacent communities, 2) issues surrounding the transfer of ownership of Cattle Hill and the Pedro Point Headlands to the NPS, 3) access and operation of the San Mateo County Parks in the City of Pacifica including San Pedro Valley County Park and the Devil's Slide Trail County Park, and 4) ways in which these areas can contribute to the economy of the City.

* Blogmaster's Note: I'm not going to post any comments that are purely insults. If you have a comment about anything, try to make it at least semi-informative. Thanks.

Hmmmm.... lessee.... let's look at what people listed as their skills and qualifications to serve on the Open Space Committee here... um... trail maintenance and area cleanups, good... this one lists experience working in a variety of committees, nice... and here we have a Ph.D. in ecology, yes, outstanding... and lastly, a gentleman that does karate.

What are your skills and qualifications to serve on the open space committee which will make recommendations to our city council on land use issues?

"I ran a marathon."

No way. You made this up, Steve. This can't be for real.

LOL omg I'm dying here! "Like both Sues, I have excellent attendance." WTF, ahahahahahaha, I can't breathe. Send help.

Lynn Adams is quite possibly the hardest working volunteer in Pacifica. She and the Beach Coalition must be pleased as punch to see Dan giving himself the credit for their whale event.

Isn't "HAM radio operator" a good qualification? Is a HAM radio like a potato battery?

For those who didn't know, Dan flipped out after the last city council meeting and started screaming at me while we were standing in the parking lot. He threatened multiple times that he would kick my ass and kill me, and also yelled that he would slap a restraining order on me because I was supposedly stalking him. I actually hadn't seen him since a CERT meeting six months before. (I noticed he wasn't at last night's CERT meeting, either. I wanted to say, "Hi!")

There must have been at least a dozen people standing around watching all this, with mouths agape. Truly bizarre behavior.

People who can't control their tempers or handle disagreement shouldn't be on any kind of public committee. Threatening Pacifica's biggest bad-ass (me) shows a dangerous lack of judgement.

When Pacifica is in need of a 40 mile run finishing mountain marketer, who ya gonna call?

Steve, you're a really mellow guy in person, so wow. This is actually very, very scary and should concern anyone who runs into this dude.

Even though he is the least qualified applicant, Stegnik will get Martin's vote. She owes him for the dirty work he did in getting Nihart disqualified from the council race.

Dan wasn't threatening to kick Steve's ass and kill him, he was consensus-building and extending his online following.

Dear city council, I deserve to be on the open space committee because I like to karate chop things. I also ran a marathon once. I even finished it! Oh, and I do HAM radio. Meaning, I eat ham while listening to the radio. I would write more, but I believe I'm being stalked. Excuse me while I go threaten to kill someone in front of a dozen witnesses.

Best regards!

Dan threatened to kill Steve, but quite clearly Steve is alive and well. This tells me Dan has no follow-through on his commitments. We don't need someone this wishy-washy on a city committee.

It'll be yuuuugggggge!!

Steve,
For your own safety I would file a police report and maybe even a restraining order against Stegnick. This guy seems dangerous and I would hate to be reading about some tragic event in the NOBY Newspaper. It's telling that the NOBY's were OK with him as an operative in the election fraud and to this day are mum on the topic. The politics and ethical core in this town are just as demented as what we are witnessing in the Whitehouse.

Steve Sinai said...

The incident didn't seem worthy of a police report. It was more surreal than frightening.

But I told some people that if I was found dead in the next few days, they'd know who to investigate.

Stegink was a useful attack dog for the NO-Nothings, but now that he's gone rogue and everyone's aware of his embarassing brand of lunacy, it’s like they don't know him anymore!

is this an application for an open space committee or for a ninja academy?

Steve,

I am surprised with your background being an MP in the military you couldn't find a peaceful way to calm this person down.

Will both of the parties please come forward and tell your side of the story.

Remember they don't keep me here cause I am gorgeous, they keep me here cause I am very smart.

Looking forward to April 10 to see if Dan will scream and threaten to kick the asses of city council members who don't vote for him.

Anonymous said...

I am being completely serious about this: I would urge any councilmember who is seriously considering appointing this guy to to first ask for a criminal background check.

Anonymous said...

12:39, when this has come up before, he's dismissed his past indiscretions as nothing more than "parking tickets."

How many people do you know that have a Department of Corrections record and are sentenced to an unknown term of probation over "parking tickets?"

Anonymous said...

Steve, if you were sent a Certain Someone's...uh..."background," and it was established these records were his beyond a reasonable doubt, would you post them here?

As a Certain Someone is so fond of saying, they're public records.

Steve Sinai said...

"Steve, if you were sent a Certain Someone's...uh..."background," and it was established these records were his beyond a reasonable doubt, would you post them here?"

If they were way beyond a reasonable doubt and relevant I would post them. I'd also like the person sending them in to put their name behind their submission.

"Steve, I am surprised with your background being an MP in the military you couldn't find a peaceful way to calm this person down."

I was telling him to calm down, but sometimes people get so worked up that they're beyond all reason.

Actually a friend of mine was "detained" or arrested or held at the police station in SF for numerous unpaid tickets. This was years ago before the jails were over capacity.

I remember her Dad walking into the police station livid after paying all the tickets she just "threw away."

Anonymous said...

Did your friend's dad get tickets for "Eluding," "False Report to Law Enforcement Authorities," "Interference with Official Acts" and other assorted criminal traffic violations which ended up with him being criminally sentenced and placed on probation?

Dan is very fond of smearing people by digging around the internet and posting info about them, and then not-so-subtly inferring something nefarious about it. He then washes his hands of it all by stating "They're public records!" as if that absolves him of any responsibility for his claims.

Isn't it ironic that some of his own criminal records are available for all to see with a simple google search? And the best part about it is that they're public records! But the real question these records raise is, what other charges are there out that we might not yet know about??!!

Kathy Meeh (for the record) said...

320, you said, "...Isn't it ironic that some of his own criminal records are available for all to see with a simple google search? And the best part about it is that they're public records!"

Then under anonymous cover you didn't link the records you CLAIM exist, did you? No you didn't.
So what public records are you referring to, or are you just smearing Dan?
That's up to you, let's see the records with your link.

PS. I do think Steve should have filed a police report with regard to Dan's outrageous threat.

Anonymous said...

Steve,

What you do about the police is your own business I guess, but I hope you at least let the councilmembers know about this incident before April 10, just in case any of them were thinking about appointing Dan. An angry wacko like this shouldn't be anywhere near a committee.

This guy appears to be a fringe whacko. Deirdre's puppet masters appear to have embraced him as an operative to box out Mary Ann. Wouldn't it be refreshing if our NOBY news letter did some REAL investigative reporting and connected some of these dots. Come on Jane, here's a chance to to show your readership that you aren't just a NOBY shill.
This whole debacle just shows how unethical and dishonest this whole gang of NOBY's really is.

Mr Miyagi said...

Noel Blincoe has to be over 80. Not much he can do.

Can you do better than this?

Sinai, please tell us the story about you at Polk High.

You know the 4 touchdowns in one game.

Steve Sinai said...

Al, you scored the touchdowns. I was the QB, so I passed and handed-off the ball to you.

Your too short to play QB like Doug Flutie!

Slash Sinai said...

Flutie had a pretty successful career. And I'm 5/16th of an inch taller than QB Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seachickens.

Steve, if I go to tonight's city council meeting, will you be my bodyguard? How much do you charge for your services?

Open Space Committee needs to change their name to Creating Green Spaces for Homelessness. I live by San Pedro Park and since little brackie usurped the White House it has been a constant pilgrimage to all Open Space Places by illegals, thugs, homeless people. Thanks Democrats. Turning once beautiful places into toilets. Also, we have black burka combat boot wearing idiots walking around and all you see is eyes. Nice. NOT.

Russell Wilson, is listed at 5-10 but he is lucky to be 5-9.

His wife is 5-7 and he is just a tad taller.

I have bad news, everyone. City council decided that the open space committee didn't need someone with a black belt in tai chi

Steve Sinai said...

Turns out that the ninja turtle who applied to the Open Space Committee got zero votes from the council members.

Mr Miyagi said...

A zero for a zero. How appropriate. Now he can spend more time in his little room working on his world wide blob. Or karate chopping jello.
