July 4th, 2014 events, and next two days beach clean-up


Friday, July 4th, 2014,  City of Pacifica/Parks, Beaches, Recreation/Special Events.

Having fun today
1.  Rocket Run 2014, 5-mile race. Check-in and late entries 8-8:45 am. Race starts at 9:00 am.  Pacifica Community Center, 540 Crespi Drive. $20 registration fee (after 6/5/14). On line registration Click Here. 

2.  40th annual 4th of July celebration.  Music, crafts, eats, games for the entire family, 10 am to 4 pm.  Frontier Park,  directions if needed. 
 


3.  Legal fireworks are allowed in specific areas of Linda Mar State Beach, on the asphalt parking lot there and at Rockaway.  And at home in neighborhoods.  See city rules and regulaltions.

Next day (and weekend) clean up, beginning Saturday July 5th, 2014  
Pacifica Beach Coalition.  "Please join the firework selling groups and the Pacifica Beach Coalition as we attempt to save fish and clean up Pacifica's hot spot beaches after the very popular 4th of July ... and this year the entire holiday weekend.  7:30-9:30 am:  Linda Mar State Beach (meet in the main parking lot),  Rockaway (meet in the south lot),  Sharp Park (meet at the start of the levee)."

Children read portions of the U.S. Constitution and bands play all day long. Children play games organized by the staff of the Parks, Beaches and Recreation Department, such as water balloon toss, tug-o-war, parachute games, crazy relays, sack races and a watermelon eating contest. There's free face painting, free hair color, tasty food and crafts booths.  The schedule for bands is: Rich Felix (Solo), 11a.m. -12 p.m., Cris Cobb Band, 12-1 p.m., Fourth of July opening ceremonies, 1-1:30 p.m., Rich Felix Blues Review, 1:30-2:30 p.m. and the Feat Marvin Banks Band, 2:30-4:30 p.m."    Read article.
