"Following a seven-month investigation police have arrested eight suspected Norteno street gang members on suspicion of drug, conspiracy and weapon crimes, authorities said Monday.

Officers made the arrests Thursday morning in Hayward and Redwood City after performing a series of five search warrants, police said without providing further details.

Taken into custody were: Oscar Yslas Portillo, 26; Orlando Molina, 24; Johnny Plaza, 23; Brayan Rodriguez, 18; Rosalio Pimentel, 24, all of Redwood City; Vicente Navarro, 19; Gabriel Montalvo, 29, both of San Mateo County; Armando Yslas Portillo, 28, of Hayward."
