Young Pacifica man dead from a motorcycle accident, Highway 1 in Daly City

San Mateo Times/Erin Ivie, 6/23/14.  "Pacifica man killed in Daly City motorcycle accident."

"DALY CITY -- A Pacifica man was killed Sunday evening after crashing his motorcycle off Highway 1 in Daly City, the California Highway Patrol said. Miguel Mallorca, 24, was headed south about 7 p.m. on his Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle when he abruptly left the roadway just south of Southgate Avenue, CHP Officer Ron Simmons said. The motorcycle reportedly swerved to the left and flew through the air. Mallorca was thrown off when the motorcycle hit the pavement.

According to Simmons, the motorcycle slid across the roadway and burst into flames on the east side of the road. Mallorca sustained major head trauma and a fractured pelvis and later died at San Francisco General Hospital while undergoing surgery. It was not immediately known what caused the motorcycle to leave the roadway nor whether speed or alcohol were a factor, Simmons said. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing."
