SMC alert - Coastside Auto Burglaries

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office would like to remind Coastside & Half Moon Bay residents to lock your vehicles.  Over the weekend, several thefts occurred in Half Moon Bay from unlocked vehicles.  Some of the thefts involved vehicles parked in residence driveways.

An unlocked vehicle is an open invitation to a thief.  Auto burglars typically steal items of value from the center console, glove compartment and anything on and under the seats of your vehicle such as; purses, wallets, GPS units, cell phones, cash and various small electronics.  Thieves like to move quickly and focus on items that are in plain view inside the vehicle.

Keep items out of view, secured inside your locked vehicle trunk or inside your home.  Contact Sheriff's Office Dispatch if you see any suspicious activity at 650-363-4911.

Lt. L. Williams, Coastside Patrol
