01/10/11 Council Meeting Agenda Packet

http://www.cityofpacifica.org/civica/filebank/blobdload.asp?BlobID=4095

Item 5 on the consent (where else!) calls for a one year extension of the climate task force committee. If you go on the citys website and finally find the committee site there's nothing there of substance. You'll notice that there are attachments FOR COMMITTEE MEMBERS ONLY! I would think that there is a violation there somewhere, and what exactly is this committee up to. Are they making policy for council? Are they going to present something publicly that will hurt the economic baby steps we're trying to take? Can't wait for their take on Highway 1 fix. That outta be a gas.

Committe chair is Carlos Davidson. Of Sierra Club fame I seem to recall. A little birdie told me that this committee morphed out of a Pacificans for Sustainable Development idea hatched by our favorite gang of eco-goobs. Im sure Julie Lancelle thought this was a great idea and empowered it as an official city committee. Don't be fooled, nothing good will come from this committee.

If anyone has any questions about this committee, maybe it should be pulled from consent, continued untill just exactly what they are supposed to do is made a little more public, and have them explain why attachments are marked committee only.

Jim, go to a meeting. I did and was saddened to see a committee member of advanced years take up half the meeting with silly little questions about nothing. Besides being an utter ignorant bore he was also very disrespectful of the other committee members. He seemed to think it was "educate the retiree about procedure" instead of a noticed committee meeting with real agenda items to cover. As far as I could tell he was just burning time to keep the committee from advancing through it's agenda.

So rather than spank it. get in there and participate. Hopefully the chairman will act like one and curtail his wayward fog horn leg horn subordinate.

The next meeting is on the 19 I think. Hope to see you there Jim.

Perhaps in light of recent events we can all make an effort to dial back terms like "utter ignorant bore" and try to be a little more respectful of each other.

Yes, and while we're at it, dial back terms like "eco-goobs."

we do have our own fair share of eco-terrorists around here. Remember what they did to the Half Moon Bay Hotel? They set it on fire!

And, without naming names, in pacifica, we have our own homegrown, one who chained herself to eucalyptus tree in the middle of the road. During commute hours.

Don't get me started on all the ones that live in San Francisco. Just be careful out there. Terrorizm is alive and well around here.

How does one chain oneself to a tree in the middle of the road? Was the tree growing in the middle of the road?

Scotty you do not get to point that finger at me or anyone else for that matter, alter ego or no alter ego.

You just made the "chained to a eucalyptus tree" story up, didn't you?

no. it is true.

It seems like I just did. Prove me wrong.

Todd, as I recall (outside the Scotty guidelines of being PC) with the drag-on of the Climate Report I had had enough of City Council and turned the TV off. At least you stayed with it.

Speaking of sleepers. For a while I attended some of the "Open Space" meetings. At that time, Noel used to wheel-in a deaf, almost comatose man (committee member), and when it was time to vote, because the man could not fully hold-up his hand, Noel would provide the leverage by assisting.

About the "eucalyptus tree" story from "anonymous" who has not disclosed more detail including who was tied to the tree. Maybe that incident occurred several years ago when a grove eucalyptus trees were being cut and removed from a Linda Mar Blvd hill near the Adobe. Try a name like Nancy Hall, Laurie Goldberg, etc. Some of these people were objecting to the trees being cut there, the displacement of wild life, etc.

Trust me anonymous, no one will guess who you are, and the "eco-terrorists" or even "eco-goobs"(new word to me) are are not coming to get you. Besides, I think we all want to do the best for ourselves, the environment, and our ecology-- its a full integration. Some of just don't want to give civilization, humans and other mammals the shaft in the process.
