Reference - North Coast County Water District (NCCWD), "Conservation tips". "Indoor: Turn off the faucet when brushing teeth or washing your hands. Take shorter showers. Each minute you cut saves 2.5 gallons. Replace your old toilet with an ultra low-flow toilet. Install faucet aerators on your kitchen and bathroom faucets. Replace your clothes washer with a high efficiency washer. Only wash full loads of dishes in the dishwasher. Outdoor: Use a broom to clean sidewalks and driveways instead of using a hose. Water only what your plants need. Water your lawn only at night or very early in the morning. Plant drought tolerant and native plants. Stop leaks. To check for leaks turn off all water taps inside and
outside your home. If the meter dial is moving, you may have a leak. ....
Free NCCWD conservation tools. "We've put together a great conservation program to teach our customers how to save water and save money." california is headed towards water-disaster mode. what is the long range plan for pacifica other than consumer conservation? our properties will have zero value if there's no water coming out of the pipes for cooking, bathing, toilet flushing.
We have ample locations for de-salinization plants.
Since all of the NIMBY's are dead set against housing or any kind of revenue producing development maybe we should look at this as a viable alternative.
Let's get a grant. City Council will get right on that!
There is no real drought for SF PUC customers. Hetch Hetchy is plenty full and there is always lake Eleanor and Cherry which combined are almost the same size as Hetch Hetchy and are full since they haven't needed a drop out of them for drinking water since 1988.
They just have to pretend we have issues here too so that the rest of the state that really is at risk doesn't try to get their hands on SF's water rights.
If water was scarce, NCCWD wouldn't be selling it to us for less than a penny a gallon.
Don Pedro reservoir is a puddle. Just drove by.
Timely article in NatGeo about worst drought in 1000 years coming to the Southwest and Great Plains.
