General Plan open house June 18th: Chamber supports, NIMBIES complain

Here's to a better city!
Pacifica Tribune/Jane Northrop, staff, 6/24/14.  "Pacificans react to proposed new General Plan."

"Pacifica Planning Director George White explained that there are no zoning changes in the plan, just land use designation changes. Coastal land use priorities written into the general plan will have to be approved by the Coastal Commission.

Several residents said population growth concerned them. Pacifica's population growth is expected to rise by 50 a year or 2,500 new people over 20 years. They would require 1,000 new housing units. Housing will be clustered near shopping areas and mixed use areas, such as Crespi Drive and Palmetto Avenue."   Read article.

Reference - City of Pacifica General Plan update.   "Purpose - Pacifica's General Plan has not been comprehensively updated since its adoption in 1980.  The General Plan is the City's most important planning tool, and a comprehensive update would help ensure that information in the Plan is current and that the Plan's goals and action items are consistent with current City policy. In addition, a General Plan update will allow Pacifica to add and strengthen policies related to sustainability and economic development."

Hey 1117. They're not worried. Why should you be?
