A couple things planned for the next City Council meeting
* A request by John Keener to discuss dropping a new library from its proposed site on Palmetto.
* Deirdre Martin's letter to Caltrans telling them to stop considering highway widening as a solution to Highway 1 traffic problems.
If anyone wants to review why Caltrans and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority recommended highway widening, take a look at the following link -

Caltrans Summary of Alternatives |

This majority is out of control. Comrade Keener decrees that a decade or more or work by dedicated volunteers is now moot and we're going back to the drawing board for another exercise in pointless politics concerning the library.
And
The evil one, Martin, decides to give back the money for Hwy 1 safety improvements to the TA. Repurpose! That's a bullshit word if ever their was.
The gall of these 2 self important nits. They don't speak for me. Go the hell away, back into the holes you crawled out of. You're destroying this town. What you have done in the last 6 months is criminal.
Not to worry, Larry. At the last council meeting, Martin was patting herself on the back because she directed the city to apply for bike path money, insisting that it would help reduce traffic on Highway 1.
At the same meeting, Digre kept repeating that highway widening was considered "passe," and her latest solution to traffic is intelligent traffic signals all the way between Half Moon Bay and Pacifica. First, her beloved InSync traffic signal system was to be applied only to Reina Del Mar and Fassler. Then when she realized that wouldn't work, she wanted it extended to Crespi and Linda Mar. Now it's every signal between HMB and Pacifica.
At least Keener is up-front about it and doesn't even bother to pretend to care about highway traffic.
Palmetto library site should now be used for revenue and Caltrans needs to be audited for poor maintenance practices.
Oh, that's the answer 10:51! Another Mensa answer.
Digre needs a smart signal in her brain directing the chaos, Martin needs a personality and some smarts, Keener needs to go back to SOCAL.
This agenda will impact this town in ways we can't even predict now. We've lost population. That's nuts! What town in the bay area loses people? Maybe we just take Keener's suggestion and refuse to spend any money west of Hwy 1. Lose hundreds of rental units and homes and turn Pacifica into a ghost town.
I say the answer to highway congestion is rebuilding the old Ocean Shore Railway line from Half Moon Bay to Colma Bart, along one of the lanes of Highway one or in the middle of it.
If they can put in a railway line in Marin county in 2017, then we can put in a railine here on the coast.

Almost as stupid as the idea from the local pot head about putting a frontage road right through the middle of the quarry.
"Maybe we just take Keener's suggestion and refuse to spend any money west of Hwy 1. Lose hundreds of rental units and homes and turn Pacifica into a ghost town."
And then blame all the resulting problems on greedy landlords and corrupt developers.
I don't think a new Ocean Shore railway is a bad idea. We need to support mass transit. It could be an underground railway too like BART. The people in Half Moon Bay and the coast need to ride mass transit to San Francisco instead of private cars. We could get some antique trains with steam, bells and whistles like Roaring Camp and it would be a great tourist attraction, like the Wine Train up north. We still have Vallemar station, that could be a stop for the new train. Choo Choo! Many children in Pacifica like Thomas the Train.
A coastal train is a highway one widening alternative we all can get on board!
If we all lay on our horns between Rockaway and Vallemar we punish the haters
@8:17 a.m: That Marin County rail line (S.M.A.R.T.) and its' right-of-way was already in existence and did not call for constructing a new rail line. Currently designed to run from Larkspur Landing(?) to Santa Rosa, it will eventually extend all the way to Ukiah. I believe it is being run along the existing tracks on the Southern Pacific(?) right-of-way.
San Mateo County, and yes. Pacifica too, missed the boat when they voted not allow BART into the County back in the 1960's. Although at the time, I doubt there would have been any plans to extend BART along the coast. Cheap housing and a sparse population at the time. In 1969, I looked at an old Victorian on Main Street next to the IDES hall in HMB that was advertised at $18.5 k. Decided it wasn't worth the price and too far a drive to work. Times have certainly changed since then haven't they?
Plans were afoot in the 80's or 90's to build a tunnel under Hwy 92 to connect HMB to Hwy 280 at Crystal Springs. That didn't materialize.
Kommandant Keener's dumbass planned retreat power grab under the guise of "I'm only trying to HELP the library, honest!" was exposed for what it was last night. He got his ass lit up by an angry public who reminded him that we didn't elect a king, and more importantly, NO OTHER COUNCIL MEMBER VOTED WITH HIM.
What's that smell? Burnt toast!
Keener has managed to antagonize every major community group in town. Yes, he even pissed off the rent controllers by end-running around the Rent Advisory Board, giving it the middle finger, and shutting it down without even bothering to consider their recommendations.
The only Keener supporters left in Pacifica are the same three sad-sack enviro-gadflies and the carnival barker karate man who show up at council meetings when Keener sends out emails begging for people to cover for him at the podium.
Mark my words: John Keener will not get reelected in 2018. No way.
Who will get elected instead then @ 9:19?
My favorite moment from last night's meeting was Bridget "420" Duffy coming to the podium, after an earlier appearance in which she declared herself "a big fan of cannabis," to shriek about the Beach Blvd library site being unsuited for building anything due to sea level rise. Then in the same breath she suggested that the current council chambers be remodelled into a live-work artist-loft/opium den despite it being closer to the ocean than the proposed library site.
That's the sort of thinking being "a big fan of cannabis" causes. She smoked herself stupid.
9:19 -- that's what happens when you align yourself with the likes of Dan "Coalition Builder" Stegink.
John Keener + Dan Stegink... what a marriage! Two individuals who refuse to let reality get in the way of their preconceived notions and who have so few supporters, they couldn't field a basketball team between them.
Loved Dan's temper tantrum last night when he thumped the podium to get everyone's attention because he had something very important to say! The final vote for the library band wasn't 54 percent. No! He turned to the audience as he laid out the hard truth: It was 53.8 percent!!! Then, having shown the rubes of Pacifica who was boss, he strode from the podium, head held high amid thunderous applause (actually, it was laughter and eye-rolling).
You can't make this dumbassery up, folks.
10:32 -- you forgot the best part when Duffy compared the discussion about marijuana in Pacifica to the difficulties Americans faced when freeing the slaves. Yeah, I don't know either. People should know enough not to speak at city council when they're stoned out of their minds.
Stegink, has done more to expose the ineptness at City Hall than the rest of you fixie's combined.
Now back to your Beer.
Far from exposing any ineptitude at city hall, Stegnik has built the reputation of adding two and two and getting five, or of posting old news as exclusive scoops. (I can't figure out why Maybury is allowing him to do that on Riptide.) You could say that Stegnik is our own local version of the National Enquirer - but I guess if you read that and watch Fox News, you'll think that's a good thing.
name one thing Stegknik has done for pacifica that doesn't involve saying no to a policy or project
Haha you haters haven't done a damned thing. A new guy come along, starts a blog, and blow both the local blogs out of the water. What do you do? Attack him.
And you wonder why Pacifica is a meth addicted shit hole.
8:52 AM Only a moron thinks they are fooling everyone with their moronic behavior.
(Trumpy Boy are you listenin'?)
Danny Boy do you really think your childish tactics are working?
You are as much of an offence as our current illegitament Noby Majority Council.
Yeah, Dan sure has a great blog. There hasn't been a single post to it in over four months, but that's what makes it the better than the rest!
Riptide and Fix Pacifica are also cut and paste blogs?
When was the last time either of them broke a big story?
Nice try at a distraction, but no one here is making the claim Riptide or Fix is breaking big stories. That's an invention in your own befuddled head.
YOU stated that Stegink's site "blow[s] both the local blogs out of the water" which is laughable since it's been dead since February after the Chamber CEO roasted Dan's ass for publishing a made-up story.
Lay off the opiates.
1:22 has to be Dan Stegink himself. Since he is the only one, besides Duffey, who thinks he is so smart. Stegink's only accomplishment in life is being able to cut and paste. He never has an original idea of his own. Stegink's two-year old temper tantrum banging on the podium shows his maturity. Stegink has accomplished as much as erosion has for pacifica. The guy was over qualified with his PADI certificate to land a spot on the open space committee! Stegink wasn't mature enough to get a position on the Parent Teacher Association at the local school. He was one of the group who orchestrated the ousting of Mary Ann Nihart and helped place illegitimate and unqualified Diedre Martin on there to further bankrupt the city. He's harassed people at their places of work and home by the safety of his computer screen. Posted personal information of people on public websites but wont' state his own address himself. He can constantly criticize yet can't offer a positive solution on anything. Stegink's contribution to the residents of Pacific Skies Estates did them a lot of good didn't he. After they were forced to move he went on to criticize and blame others for those who died afterwards. Oh, and who was that who was physically threatening people at the parking lot at the Chambers Council building then went off to run away scared and threatening to call the cops, yes, yes that was good old Dan Stegink himself. Let us have more of that guy! the comedy/stupidity on top of the divisiveness is just what Pacifica needs now. How soon until we get to see him running for council? that will be fun! Stegink can't wait for every opportunity to waste everyone's time at council with another three minutes to point out that the number wasn't 4.0 but 3.8 or give some sort of idiotic Non-solution one thing or another. Accomplishments with Stegink just never end do they? He, Keener, Martin, and Duffy should just form a group to spread their good cheer and intelligence for all. Plenty of Nobies to join you in further screwing up whatever is left of Pacifica if the current three "progressives" on council don't bankrupt us first.
The event at City Council Chambers was fantasy. It never happened.
People who were there say otherwise..
While I'm no fan of Dan S., I would like to point out that it's very easy to get carried away with accusations when you remain anonymous.
7:29, 8:11. Here is a link to the public comments on Library Siting at Monday's meeting, including Dan's.

Actually Dan, makes a lot of sense!
I just watched the whole city council meeting.
I didn't hear nor see you there Sinai.
Keep blaming everything on annon's.
Sinai was watching the Warriors.
Who needs to be at council meetings, three of the council members don't listen to anyone anyhow. Everyone is tired of Stegink and others try to act smarter than Digree, Keener, and Martin, and boring us with their three minutes of "fame" Not such a hard task.
Can they all just go away and smoke the rest of Duffy's pot?
I watched the video of the meeting to see what the chatter was about. Dan's comment starts at 2:58. Nothing much there. Somebody is overdramatizing.
Nothing much about Dan's comments = normal. Showboating = normal.
I think making a comment directly to the City Attorney, which he knows is not allowed in citizen communication, and then stating she should feel free to take a five minute recess to discuss the matter was beyond gall. Who the hell is he anyway? He is another Pacifica newbie who feels he knows more then the long-timers and I haven't agreed with anything he has done or said yet. What he did regarding the library and Nihart was an abomination. I do notice when he shows up places no one seems to have anything to do with him anymore.
Another great moment in Dan Stegink history comes courtesy of his NextDoor post where he claims full credit for getting the city to reconsider the location of the sewer overflow tank when they wanted to put it in the Caltrans lot beside Safeway.
Yes, there were several discussions about moving the tank from that lot in both in the Tribune and online in early 2012, but Dan had 0.0% to do with it.
Dan didn't move to Pacifica until late 2013.
Dan's inspiration?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4JhyHz3M5U
Of course Dan wanted to move the overflow basin from the Samtrans lot, its right behind his house. Just like he wanted and did force 7-11 to not finalize their purchase of Dave and Lous' because it is locate right behind HIS house. Screw Dave and Lou's Owner of decades, doesn't matter to Stegink.
OK, all this stuff about Dan is getting ridiculous. No more anonymous comments. (For now.) Use your name if you have anything to say about him.
Pedro Point Shopping Center parking lot 3/4's full with surfers and beach goers at 8:30 Saturday morning. Pay for lot 1/2 full.
I thought 3:11 was talking about Todd Schlesinger when he said "I think making a comment directly to the City Attorney, which he knows is not allowed in citizen communication." In the same meeting,Todd was talking to the city attorney and the audience and individual council members, all of which are violations of the rules of order for oral communications. The mayor had to admonish him and tell him that you're only supposed to address the council as a whole.
