Pacifica Tribune/Jane Northrop, 8/26/14.  "Introducing Matt Dougherty -- City Council candidate."

Shakespeare temporarily standing in,
awaiting a Matt Dougherty photograph
"Why are you running for office? ....  I am looking to be a leader in conservation by preserving the land and coastline of Pacifica, encouraging energy and water saving techniques for all new projects and city buildings. Wow and I picked on Lennie for the last 4 years for still riding a skateboard to city council meetings.

Does this kid even have a drivers license?

He couldn't be any worse on City Council than "Clueless" Sue.

Over reach much? I went to his website which has been "under construction" since 9/14. Competence begins at home.

Can we find out if he's against highway widening? Being he's an environmental candidate I have a feeling he's against it which would be great since it would take votes from Keener.

What's the matter 1229 afraid of a kid who has more political experience than John Keener?

Hi all,

I've been curious as to why nobody on this website has reached out to me to ask my opinion on any issues that are important to them in Pacifica. I have actively been visiting this site for the past few months and am happy to see my name brought forward. In regards to your concerns, I do have experience in government and finance - managing a large budget, writing legislation, and listening to the concerns of our citizens are duties that I have been responsible for.

Thank you for the post. However, There are a number of mistakes that should be addressed.

1. The picture is not of me. If you follow the link to the Google+ site you will see his name is Morgan, not Matt Dougherty.

2. Another problem is the short bio in the end of the post is about 3 years old, but relevant nonetheless.

3. Regarding my website, it will go live tonight and I look forward to everyone visiting it for more information on my campaign. I believe publishing a site with broken content is as bad as passing a law that was not thought through. Please excuse my patience in trying to publish a site that is both thorough and represents my integrity to the fullest.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to send me an email at matt@votedougherty.com

Matt

1. what is your position on borrowing $2.7 million from the Sewer fund to pay down the pension bonds.

2. What are your thoughts on changing how sewer fees are billed.
Now: paid with property Taxes Proposed: paid on water bill.

what will the Impacts be: both positive and negative?

3. Should the City or an outside agency run the audit to find out where the missing millions went.

ahhh was this student council at sonoma state??

" I do have experience in government and finance - managing a large budget, writing legislation, and listening to the concerns of our citizens are duties that I have been responsible for."

I call BS on you Matt. You said "I do have experience in government...writing legislation, and listening to the concerns of our citizens are duties that I have been responsible for."
The student union of Sonoma State is NOT government. If you have experience in real government then please tell us specifically what positions you either held or were appointed to. I want to give you the benefit of the doubt. Please respond.

when did you register to vote and what party. Assume you have voted once??

Anonymous said...

If pacificans grilled current and past city council members like this, Pacifica wouldn't be in such a financial hole.

Anonymous said...

Matt, no one reached out to you because you hadn't provided anyone with the means to do so. Also, since you're the one running, you're the one that needs to be reaching out, not us. That's kind of how this election thing works.

Were you posting as Local Libertarian on this site?

Anonymous said...

Matt, I have the voter registrations from about three weeks ago. Can't find you. Did you just register to vote here at the last minute?

How discouraging to read these uncivil comments. Anyone that feels the desire to throw their hat in the City Council race deserves a better reception. I don't know much about Matt either but look forward to knowing more.

Matt, I would not answer any questions from this blog. No one will see it , that matters. I admire your courage in becoming a candidate for city council. Trust no one. Good luck.

all comments sent to Pacifica Tribune. Matt, better man up and respond! You are running for council, an adult endeavor!

Anonymous said...

1120 I love it when another anon tells someone to man up. We're a fierce lot. Run, Matt, run!

In the old days when someone got bad news they shot the messanger.

Now days when someone doesn't like the news they blame it on the annons.

Lack of character and no sack!

matt is a wanna-be. Gets in the race, disappears. Always at least one every election.

Matt I apologize for some of the shallow remarks here. Just ignore them they are obviously jealous and afraid of you for some reason.

Congratulations on having the courage to run for public office. Good luck to you.

Can you please tell us briefly your position on highway widening, increasing taxes and fees, and transparent government? Thanks.

Mondfrans, remember him? He pulled 1765 votes in 2012 in a field of four. In 2010, in a field of nine candidates, Heather Tanner had 2292 and Karl Davidson 1361. Therese and Matt are going to tie up votes needed elsewhere.

we have to vote for 3 anyway 10:59.

Oneill, Spano, Dyer

And BTW anon 10:35, this blog has more viewers than the Tribune, Riptide and Patch combined. Look at Tribune circulation numbers and keep in mind only half those papers are looked at. That leaves about 1500 people per week. Fix Pacifica has over 600 views a day according to Kathy.

todd bray said...

600 views by the same 10 to 12 people doesn't make this blog more viewed than the Trib or Riptide. Personally I read this blog for entertainment. It's not often you get to watch you Anon critters drive yourselves mad. It's very entertaining. Informative no. Uninformed, bitter vitriolic sour grapes: YES! I wonder if Kathy will let this post through?

Anonymous said...

I probably account for 50 of those views per day. I'm constantly re-checking the page all day while I do other things, just to see the latest wacky hate-filled crap being spewed about local folk.

Anonymous said...

Todd

Back over to Riptide!

113 If Therese Dyer were to be elected, can national news coverage be far behind? She could go viral!
It's almost enough to make me vote for her. Nihart badgered by Therese. Oh, I smell a code of conduct for our hapless city council. You vill behave, you dumkopf! Count me in.

Anonymous said...

Pardon me, 230, but if you really think this blog is full of whacky, hate-filled crap (I don't) why would you frequent it 50 times a day? Have such a thing in your life? I think you've given us insight about you, not this blog.

Anonymous said...

I'm amused by its presumption.

Anonymous said...

346 Kinda holds your attention, doesn't it?

Anonymous said...

Yeah, like watching a soap opera and car accident at the same time.

Anonymous said...

Can't look away? Then we're not talking about our better natures, are we?

Kathy Meeh said...

Todd 204, blog page views are tallied at 5 p.m. each day. Today the number of page view were 980. Thank you for contributing to our high numbers. With regard to your 204 comment, well consider that you are part of the entertainment.

Below the comment "Choose an identity" box, there's a control to send comment emails directly to you, so that you will not miss any comments, and may not feel the need to open 50 pages daily. Good luck!

Anonymous said...

LMAO. FYI you ingrates...Meeh runs a full service blog with all the bells and whistles.

Anonymous said...

The new kid won't answer questions. He would be a perfect New secret squirrel on city council!

Hutch said...

It takes a special kind of irrationality to check a blog that they say is "Uninformed, bitter vitriolic sour grapes" 50 times a day.

Kathy Meeh said...

813, tech man is Steve Sinai, Blogmaster. Thank him for any ease in posting comments.

Funny comment and analysis, Hutch 851. With 50 pages each blogger opened today, we must have moved all the way up to 19.60 obsessive, disgruntled bloggers. Or, anti-progress Anonymous 230 and Todd 204 wishful commentary is incorrect. No surprise.

What happened to Matt? I was hoping to post a linked picture of him. And although Anonymous 1035 may be his Mom telling him not to answer questions, that may not be good advice. I hope by the time the campaign moves forward, we will understand the position of each city council candidate on such issues as: #1. city economic development (leading to economic sustainability); and #2 highway widening (improved traffic flow).

Additionally, hopefully candidates will address other issues important to our city, such as: where's the money to fix our roads (Matt brought up that one); and other city, social and ecological infrastructure and service issues.

If Todd is a nudnik, that makes you a kvetcher.

Kathy Meeh said...

942 I have no problem with your comment. Kvetcher against nudniks is not a bad thing. But the article is about city council candidate Matt Dougherty, rather than nudnicks and kvetchers. Are you him, do you know him, do you understand his view of these issues, do you understand the issues that confront this city, do you care? Or are you just lost in the weeds of secondary commentary?

Anonymous said...

Nudniks, kvetchers. Just when you need Joan Rivers, she's gone. RIP Joan.
