Presidents Cup success

What people were saying at Thursday night's cocktail gala at the Fairmont Hotel:

"Golf at the highest level and the beginning level should be at public courses."
Robert Trent Jones Jr., golf course architect, on the significance of playing at Harding Park.

The above is from an article in Friday's edition of the SF Chronicle from on the Presidents Cup held at Harding Park this past weekend. The quote from Robert Trent Jones, a great modern day course designer says it all I think.

The game of golf today, at it's core is a family game. One that can be played by any age at anytime.

Golf is not dead like the opposition would have you believe. All you have to do is look at the 30,000 + people each day with smiles on their faces this past weekend watching the pros. I was working the Presidents Cup as a volunteer and had a great view of the action and the crowds.
I saw kids with parents, kids with grandparents and a very diverse crowd. Men & women of all ages and ethnic groups were there to catch a glimpse of their favorite players. Of course Tiger had the biggest following of the weekend.

I will be writing a letter to Mayor Newsom urging him to fight for Sharp Park on the heels of this weekend's successful event. Of course I doubt the PGA Tour will ever come to Sharp Park but the one thing the Presidents Cup shows us that golf is alive and well.

One has to wonder just how many helpless SF garter snakes, red legged frogs and native plants Tiger Woods and his cold-blooded cohorts massacred in their reckless pursuit of a useless piece of hardware? How do they live with themselves?

I was particularly appalled at Tiger's choice of accessories including endangered species golf shoes, golf gloves and golf bag. In fact, aren't tigers themselves endangered? This just keeps getting worse...

You are one funny guy Rocky. The entire world should get off the planet so the RLF ans SFGS's can have a go at it. Oh, that's a one-sided argument too, the SFGSs eat the RLFs, what's the point-- kind of like Mosquito Abatement spraying GGNRA Mori Point and all other habitat of Sharp Park 3x monthly to prevent mosquito breeding, pointless.

As if the aforementioned weren't bad enough, lest we forget the carcass of the mauled endangered Delta smelt which I discovered on the banks of Lake Merced, courtesy of the these golfing hoodlums. And please, don't try and tell me these were simply the remains of a discarded sardine sandwich. I know the difference...
