In the News - Dow Hits 10,000, Pacifica Hits 0.

The Dow briefly traded above 10,000 today for the first time in over a year. The Dow rose to 10,001.58, then fell back slightly. The last time the Dow crossed 10,000 during a trading session was October 7, 2008, when it briefly touched 10,124.03 (from CNN today).

Not in Pacifica.  Any development here lately?  Any talk of development which produces needed city tax revenue, services, jobs?  Monday night (10/12/09) at City Council the Palmetto Streetscape concept was drug-out again.  Does the streetscape really have anything to do with development, will it actually even be funded?  If it is funded the will the utilities undergrounding be half a job, not include the north Pacifica sewer artery overdue by 10 years?

The streetscape presenter said something about a 20 year plan, and a council member (Jim Vreeland) mentioned a very slow growth vision.  How about a "no growth vision" councilmember Vreeland, isn't that the reality of the past 8 years?  Why were 4 of you councilmembers not upfront with the public when you ran for office, and isn't it a fact that your common vision has been silent, even sinister in relationship to the common needs of the people of this city?

The only new commercial construction (as opposed to a remodel) I can think of in the last 8 years was Kragen. For a city of almost 40,000, that's surreal.
