Bruce Balshone, San Mateo Public Policy Examiner

One of my favorite blogs, and not just because I think Bruce Balshone is one of the coolest guys in Peninsula politics.  His latest article about the Measure H and I campaigns in Burlingame is fascinating:

Illegal Campaigning in Burlingame?

Eerily similar to a group in Pacifica who formed as a Political Action Committee to oppose Measure E in 2002 (and helped get the fiscally disastrous City Council elected), then "re-branded" themselves in opposition to Measure L without having filed any FPPC documents in the interim, then decided they knew what was best for Pacifica and its economic future by opposing nearly every development that has now faded into oblivion.

They're good, gotta give them credit for that. They like the fact that everyone else is just snooozin their rights away, while they destroy our cities economic base.

I like that little sticky note update "we're still here" one of our friends observed in the PSD file at city hall, rather than the required full update report.

As a non-declared PAC beyond Measure E (2002) they have since endorsed candidates for School District and City Council. Whereas, for everyone else these reports must be filed with the city, following initial State filing, updated amendments, and closed with the State and the Fed if no longer a PAC for the purpose described or amended.
