Dead scuba diver identified as Pacifica man

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

(08-24) 07:02 PDT PACIFICA --
A scuba diver found dead off the Pacifica coast was identified by the San Mateo County coroner's office today as 54-year-old Mark Haley of Pacifica.
Haley was found motionless in the water off Linda Mar Beach near Pedro Point at about 11:40 a.m. Monday, authorities said.
Haley was wearing a wetsuit and scuba-diving equipment, said Pacifica police Capt. Fernando Realyvasquez.
The coroner's office plans to conduct an autopsy today to determine the cause of Haley's death. There were no signs of foul play, Realyvasquez said.

Must have been caused by an off-leash dog!

There were Western Snowy Plover tracks on his forehead.

He may have been choked to death by the native plants.

I heard rumors that he was hit over the head with one of the new parking meters.

You're all wrongh. He was trampled to death by the surge of Fresh and Easy shoppers.

Tar ball ingestion. Highly toxic! That 'll do it to you every time...

No way! It was off-leash dogs. They cause all of our problems. Don't believe me? Just ask the Open Space Committee.

Incorrecto mundo! It was that guy Realyvasquez. He did it! Haven't you ever noticed that he ALWAYS seems to be around the crime scenes? You think that's any coincidence? Hardly...

You people are sick. A man died. All you can do is make jokes about it. Fix yourselves.

Where were you at about 11:40 a.m. on Monday?

When I was in grade school I would make stupid and childish jokes too, but even then I knew that dead people were not funny.

You people making jokes about someone's father, someone's husband, someone's son, a LOCAL man DYING are setting yourselves up for some bad karma. Sick.

Some of you doth protest too much. It looks to me like these are nothing more than comical jabs thrown at the people and politicians who are responsible for putting Pacifica in its current financial and special interest serving mess - nothing more. I guess if you want to try and turn this into an indictment of those who criticize the current status quo in Pacifica, no one can stop you. But take your little self-righteous indignation somewhere else!

He was in a little over his head.

(It's a Jim Vreeland joke, you sickos!)

Please people show some respect. A man has died.

Anon @2:42pm I'm joining the "self-righteous" who know better than to make a joke out of the unfortunate death of an individual, and the loss to their family. Get real.

Anyone know Mark Haley?

Thomas Clifford et al:

If Bush, Cheney, Palin or Limbaugh died, would you be showing them some respect? Please...

If this site is about fixing Pacifica, WTF are you running obituaries for? How about staying on topic? When the previous poster(s) attempted to segue back to what's wrong with Pacifica, you all attack him/them. Go back to your sheltered, protected little cave, please.

Nobody's refudiating your right to be a tea-bagger. Just try to show a little respect and decency, and perhaps act like a grownup for a day or two.

Don't you wish some anonymous types would just go away?

Using a Pacifica man's death as a platform to argue a completely unrelated political point is infantile.

It's the kind of stuff we used to make jokes about when we were 13.

Grow up.

Tribune front page account today 8/25/10 reported Mark Haley's scuba diving equipment may have failed. His sister who lives in Concord said "he attended Oceana High School...he was an outdoorsman, fisherman, mountain biker, hiker, diver and wild mushroom enthusiast." This for the record.
