The
long-threatened public hearing on Supervisor Avalos' Close-Sharp Park
Golf Course Ordinance, is scheduled for public hearing Monday, Dec. 5,
10 a.m. in Room 250, S.F. City Hall, before the City Operations &
Neighborhood Services Committee. (Room 250 is the big legislative
chamber at top of the grand staircase).The Avalos Ordinance would direct the Rec & Park Dept. to offer to close Sharp Park Golf Course and enter exclusive negotiations with the GGNRA to take over Sharp Park. The GGNRA has already announced it will not operate a golf course at Sharp.
NOW is the time for golfers and their friends and families to come to the aid of affordable public golf and the legacy of Alister MacKenzie at Sharp Park.

I'm sure San Francisco won't mind paying the millions it will cost to keep the golf course - for a few retired middle Pacifica residents.
Hey, we'd pay if the roles were reversed. Sure we would.
Millions need to be spent in order to keep the golf course as a FIRE BREAK!!. Really, Nihart made that argument in a court filing. So in the event there is a roaring inferno coming out of the Pacific ocean we can turn on the sprinklers to protect the neighborhood, or in the event the fire is coming from the east, the sprinklers will protect the ocean as a last resort. Next time MaryAnn, read what they put in front of you before you sign it!
anon @ December 4, 2011 11:32 PM - your comment is ignorant and ridiculous and you know it. More than half the folks who play there are from San Francisco, not Pacifica. Also, several school's golf programs feed into that course, I personally collected 700 plus letters from San Franciscan's and folks from all over the peninsula who play at and support the continued existence of Sharp Park Park Golf Course. Further more Judge Illson just denied you and your cohorts claims that the operations at the course were killing the endangered species.
