Slow Highway 1 traffic coming to Linda Mar/Pedro Point tomorrow 6/20/14, until about 10/1/15

Next Door/Linda Mar/Pedro Point/Danny Estrella, 6/17/14. "Long term traffic detour on State Route 1 to San Pedro Avenue in (Pacifica) San Mateo County."
Other than this, have a good year!

"The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will detour traffic onto San Pedro Avenue from Route 1, south of Linda Mar Boulevard in the city of Pacifica on the morning of Friday, June 20. As part of the San Pedro Creek Bridge Replacement Project, this detour will allow construction crews to begin work in the creek and construct access to the creek. Pedestrians will have access along San Pedro Avenue facing the San Pedro Shopping Center.

Pedestrian traffic south of Linda Mar will not be allowed access east of the old bridge. Southbound: Traffic will continue onto Route 1 by making a right turn onto San Pedro Avenue. Northbound: Traffic coming from the Devil’s Slide Tunnels will continue onto San Pedro Avenue and make a left at Linda Mar Boulevard to get back onto Route 1.

Changeable message signs are in place to help guide motorist through the detour. This project will be completed by October, 2015 (weather permitting).  http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist4/projects/cre...  Caltrans appreciates your patience as we work to maintain the highways."

This looks like it has the fixin's to be a tricky new detour.

Expecially on weekends when tourists are driving up and down highway 1.

I give it a week before someons drives into the creek claiming they never saw the , Bridge out, Detour, signs.

Think of it as the Caltrans audition for that other little project they want us to have. Council better hurry up and vote to widen before we personally experience the fabled modernization process on a smaller scale. Honk at any time if you love Caltrans.
On the other hand, Caltrans may behave like they're in Southern CA and finish early, under budget, and having spent a few bucks at local bars and eateries. It could happen.

How is it possible that all the anti-development sentiment ended up in Pacifica?

I am in North SJ this morning. And this place is swanky!

Great America Parkway is completely transformed. So is North 1st Street and around. This place looks like its right out of a modern architecture design guidebook.

What is going on in Pacifica while the rest of the surrounding area is keeping up with the times!

What about the nature in San Jose? Why aren't the safe keepers of all things noble up in arms against the development in San Jose or San Francisco or Oakland?

It's a coastal thing. And that runs deep in CA. Brought about our good buddies the CCC way back in 1976. SJ had their own battles in the past over farm land being developed. Those got pretty nasty, too, but they pale in contrast to stuff on the coast.

A woman was hit bar a car last night and was sent to SF General in critical condition. She is currently in a coma.
