Chow Barolo, Hola Puerto 27
One up, one down: Pacifica's Barolo (404 San Pedro Ave.) has shut its doors so that, as executive chef Jason Yeafoli says, they can focus their efforts on their nearby restaurant, Moonraker - the best Bay Area restaurant named after a James Bond film.
Not far away, San Francisco restaurateur Jose Calvo-Perez (Fresca, Pasion) will open Puerto 27 in the Pacifica Beach Hotel (525 Crespi Drive). It will be a 140-seat Peruvian restaurant and Pisco bar; there will also be a golden Inca head sculpture involved, because why not.

Enough business for two Peruvian restaurants on Coast? that place in montara is peruvian. Hope so.
Pacifica, isn't upscale enough for Peruvian food.
This will fail.
There will be three, if you include El Toro Loco, which isn't upscale but has better Peruvian food than La Costanera IMO. I've heard that the Fresca in the Fillmore is really good, and I wish him luck.
The biggest fail on the planet is the Blogger captcha.
I remember a bunch of knuckle heads on this board and Riptide saying the Thai Restaurant on Crespi was a great idea. That shut down also.
Anon 10:03. You're the knucklehead if you didn't try the Thai restaurant. It was the favorite restaurant for many people in Pacifica. The fact that it shut down has nothing to do with whether or not it was great idea. I think it closed because the building was sold. But most restaurants close eventually, many in their first year.

Had good meals and bad at Moonraker. Hope they even it out.
Perfect location and nice space. Nick's is looking very shabby but still busy. Wonder who'll take the Barolo location next? Tides and La Playa seem to have found their Pacifica niche.
Thai restaurants are always a great idea.
Bitter and angry 7:43 & 10:03, you seem very unhappy here. I recommend that you move elsewhere.

@743 Peruvian, upscale? No, not particularly, but it is delicious and we do need more choices and businesses in Pacifica.
Wish that guy who had the Corral would try again in a better location.
Is the hotel even open?
