"Our environment is our economy" great slogan, limited value

"Our environment is our economy."  "... that's all it is: a great slogan, a perfect jingle. Without one whit of actual revenue numbers behind it. Don't get me wrong. Sue's a nice person and well meaning as a longtime member of the City Council, but does she get it after all those years? I say, unfortunately, no.

...If our current City Council members don't see the writing on the wall, I say, let's find people who will. Because the basics of fiscal responsibility is not rocket science. You don't spend what you don't have.  Read Editorial.

Bravo Elaine! That took guts. And you named the cities labor unions as a big part of the problem. Bravo. I guess I will renew my Tribune subscription.
