The cost of road infrastructure updating - Half Moon Bay

Half Moon Bay is another city securing grants to complete needed road infrastructure projects. Compare this cost to Pacifica replacing San Pedro Bridge,  or possibly the 1.3 mile Highway widening.  The Pacifica  projects as presented appear to be slightly lower cost than replacing the Half Moon Bay Main Street bridge.

Half Moon Bay Review/Mark Hoack, 2/17/12". "City eyes $1.2 million contract for bridge repairs".

Main Street Bridge
Cracks in the Main Street bridge, $7.5 million
"A $1.2 million contract to redesign the downtown Main Street Bridge will be considered by the Half Moon Bay City Council on Tuesday.

City staff is recommending that the council hire URS Corporation of San Francisco to play the role of quarterback for the bridge project, which would be completed by 2015. The hired firm would orchestrate the engineering, permits applications and community outreach for the project.

A designated historic landmark, the Main Street Bridge crossing Pilarcitos Creek was deemed structurally deficient by Caltrans inspectors in 2010. More than 1,500 people are estimated to cross the bridge every day, and news that the bridge was at risk of collapse came as a shock to local residents and merchants.

City officials spent the following months scrambling to find grant money to help pay for a replacement.
In December, city leaders announced they had secured $7.1 million in grants of the estimated $7.5 million price tag for the project. As part of the new contract, the URS Corporation would be required to hold eight public meetings on the bridge projects throughout the construction process."
